I know wagonhound and rough country outfitters, any others you’ve used? Any to stay away from?

Area 7 is a conundrum. I live southwest of the area and it is basically a doughnut of private land with some national forest in the middle. Additionally, this unit is riddled with CWD. My biologist neighbor shot a bull on the Wheatland side of the area a handful of years ago. The bull looked healthy but did test positive, He had to destroy the entire carcass and his words not mine “ I know enough that I would never let my family eat it”. 7 is a potential trophy area with a number of challenges. I know I haven’t really answered the outfitter question but felt compelled to share potential pitfalls if the area. I’ve lived in Laramie since 2007 and will not hunt area 7 for the above reason. Wyoming Game and Fish can turn tests around quickly, but it’s something to keep in mind. Not trying to start a boogie man argument, just sharing some local perspective. Good luck with your outfitter search.

I just spoke with G&F , caveat I know they want to sell tags.

They said the CWD is mostly in deer. And some elk were testing positive but other areas were far more apt to have it.

IDK But I’m still open at this point

Your timing is impeccable. I was just talking to a customer of mine that one of his friends is the lead guide for Wagonhound. He said they are a top notch outfitter. They take very good care of their clients, the lodging is great and they feed you well. He said it was worth the spend.
Hope this helps. He reiterated that going with a guide is the way to go in Area 7 due to the private access. I wish you the best of luck on your decision.
