No signs of rutting.super-7":rcltk2si said:Sorry to hear about your dilemma , sucks after travelling that far. The guys I hunt with we have a rule and it pertains if all involved have a tag for said game in their pocket.
EG. Moose , if my buddy and I both have tags the rule is whomever spots an animal gets dibs , if they decide to pass on it next guy in line is good to go.
We have had this understanding for years with good results.
Better luck next trip, I'm curious if you managed to hit the rut at all and were your guides calling bulls in .
I saw the guide manage to hold the bull in the area the other hunter shot with some calling. One of the things he said was too much calling is worse than no calling at all.super-7":2p3yr30p said:That's a tough hunt if they aren't coming to the calls. Hunting in the muskeg is not your regular spot and stock situation by any means. Oct 1 till the 15 is ussually prime time for moose rut in this area ( Alberta). It may be similar in NFLD give or take a week , if you decide to head back try and plan your hunt around those days if possible. Next be sure to have someone that has sucsessfully called in moose guide you. Over calling is about as bad as not calling at all.
