I have a question about bullets.. I got a new scope mounted and bore sighted.. I then sighted the gun in with factory .300 win mag Remington CorLok 180 grn bullets.. The bullets shot high right from the bore sighting.. After dialing it in I shot my reloads 190 grn nosler AccuBond lr with hodgdon h1000 at 75, 77, and 79grn

The reloads shot way low and to the left???

Do reloads really shoot that much different than factory?

I'm shooting 100yrds and the bullets are about 4 inches difference

Internet fodder says that barrels on rifles are like tuning forks. Some people say the tip of the barrel moves in a figure 8 although I've never seen a high speed film that confirms or denies it. But to answer your question yes ....4 inches is not out of the question. I guess if barrels were perfectly still we'd never see horizontal dispersion..... and our rifles would highly approve of about 95% of anything we reloaded for em.

Oh ok so there is nothing wrong with my reloads then! Awesome!

Thank you for the reply. So I will continue testing my reloading formulas to perfect those!

Yep. Entirely normal. Seen it a ton.

How are the 190's shooting for you?

I'm paring the 190's with H1000 and so far 76grn and 77grn are shooting best, but I am continuing my testing now that my head isn't getting in the way!!

I'm one of those people who is constantly second guessing things! (y)

thank you for your reply!!

No worries. What rifle are you firing them through and what sorta optics on top.

Oh and welcome aboard. Very interested to see how you make out with the 190's. Should be a good bullet in the 300 Win Mag.

Thanks! Yeah I would be happy to report back on my progress! I am setting up for long range hunting up here in North Idaho.

I'm shooting a .300 win mag Browning A-bolt topped with a Leupold Varix III CDS 4.5-14 x 40mm

I just sent my gun into the gunsmith today to install a muzzle brk and a 3lb trigger. So now I gotta be without my baby for a couple weeks..

Danged nice platform. That should be excellent when you get it back. The 300 Win and a slippery bullet are right at home in the north country.

Can't wait to hear how the load work goes.
