Haha this is just for grins but I took six gallon jugs of water up to the range yesterday afternoon and put them in a single file. I then walked about 10-15 yards away and took aim with my 300 WSM stoked with Federal Premium 180 grain AccuBond factory loads and cranked off a shot with the hopes of snagging a bullet. I failed...six jugs did not stop the bullet! Maybe the plastic was inferior or the good clean water we have here in Oregon isnt polluted enough to stop bullets but I failed to get one. Guess I will have to try 7 jugs next time, its going to take me at least 7 months to drink that much milk. Guess I better get started!

There is probably an ad for the Dairy Council in that story somewhere. Drink more milk (or that awful purple stuff from Wal-Mart).

Watch the sales, man. You should be able to pick up gallon water jugs for under a buck.

I was going to suggest the water jugs too. That is crazy that 6 jugs did not stop that bullet. Hmmm

US Plastic has one gallon PE jugs for $1.27 each, in bulk but then you have to ship them.

I would put up 8 jugs just in case but I am thinking 6-7 jugs should stop it.

Ah, you'll get it next time! That is very positive though. I love that Sporter of yours FJ! Really has my mind turning! Scotty

Or instead being at 15yds, push it out to 50 or 100yds. Aren't most of the guys blasting water jugs have them placed at 100yds????

Richracer you could be right. Just saw some guys doing it on Youtube at close range and thought itd be cool. It was quite impressive. I got wet from the blast haha.

Scotty, you have got to get a sporter like mine. Its just THE 300 WSM in my mind! I love it more each time I pull the trigger. It is a perfect companion to my New Haven Model 70 in 30-06. They truly are the Sons of Thunder.

Maybe 10-15 yards was a bit close. Might have stopped it at 100yds? only one way to find out :) Drink Milk CL

Drink more mik, or use California water which is harder than a rock. That Oregon water is too soft!

Well Kurt youre just going to have to bottle some up for me before you come back home to Portland next time!
