140 grain Hornady bt has worked well for me for years. I also have a huge stash of the 150 grain Nosler solid base and Partition. Also use the 150 grain Speer hotcore. The 140 Hornady has flattened a pile of elk and deer and holds together well.
Just added up the bullets mentioned so far and it is quite a list.

That is quite a range from 90 - 160 gr but not surprisingly 130 gr and 150 gr bullets are very popular. I thought the 140 gr bullets would have a bit more users since they seem like a great all around bullet. It appears that there are many great 270 cal bullets out there that just plain work.
270 Win = 140gr AB
270 WSM= 140 gr AB
270 Wby = 90 gr Sierras, 100 gr Sierras, 110gr TTSX's, 130gr NP's and 140gr AB (This is a rechambered Browning B-78 that loves the above bullets in handloads, except for the factory 130 NP load from Federal)
My .270 WSM spits out 130 AB into 1/2" groups. I've never felt the need to look for a different bullet. If I were to take it hunting for something elk sized or larger I might look to a 150 g or larger bullet. For now though I will keep piling up deer with it.
