Guy which Malbec do you prefer?

Honestly, I don't know yet...

Discovered that I liked Malbec earlier this year and have tried quite a variety since. I'm getting a lot of wines from Argentina of course - they do malbec in a big way there - but... there are some local Washington wines that are very, very good.

This may well have been the best of what I've sampled:

Guy,
I got a Doe tonight 30-minutes before shooting time. Shot was 100 yards, she was on the move, just as she paused I sent the 165 BT from the 06. She hit the ground flopping around and was sliding down the hill, righted her self and trotted towards me, stopped behind a tree. Gave her another one as she ran out going downhill. missed her a third time in some thick cover only to see her go down. upon investigation I shot her in the liver, it was pulverized, second shot was in the guts. Field dressing her with the aftermath of of 165 in the guts was not pleasant.

This is the second deer this year I shot in the liver, I doesn't anchor them like a lung or heart shot but I'm grateful none the less for the meat. I can't remember the last time I have shot that many times at a deer as it typically is a once and done thing for me

Don

Don,

Congrats on your doe.

On another note;

I don't speak French but I've heard that malbec, translated, is French for bad wine. :)

Scotty - I had fully intended to take the .30-06 Rem 700... Had a box of 50 all loaded up with the 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip at about 2850 fps, nicely zeroed at 200 yards...

But when I walked out the door... The .25-06 and a handful of cartridges were with me.

I think it's kind of telling that when I sat down to glass the surroundings for deer, I only took one cartridge out of my pocket to put in the rifle.

All of my other rifles are just fine, but I guess I'm pretty well stuck on the .25-06 Rem...

Guy

The best deer rifle is the one you have in your hands when you see a deer! :) Those sizzling steaks sure look great!

Is that Malbec a sweet or a dry?

My wife wants to know! ;)

Thanks -

Dale
