Well played again yesterday with the new RMR.
Just finished loading my final 2 loads it will be 60grs of RL15 or 60.5grs of RL15 8).
I have them @ 3.45" coal checked & they will work in the HS clip system.
If things go as planned head out to range after work tomorrow :).
Will take Chrony to verify speed.
Will take photos so I hope the good Doctor will post them for me

Blessings,
Dan

Man, those loads sound identical to mine in every aspect Dan. I hope they shoot as well for you as they do for me. It is a dream load in my Whelen. Accurate and pretty darned fast. Very much looking forward to your results Dan.

We're pulling for you on the loads, Dan. It will be fun to see what your rifle will do.

Thanks Scotty for the suggestions
I will hopefully be out there tomorrow as long as the wind is somewhat down and it is not raining.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Good luck at the range.
I am confident they will shoot well for you, the same load shoots very well for me. RL 15 was made for the 35 Whelen, or so it seems.

"RL 15 was made for the 35 Whelen, or so it seems."

I'll second that comment. I'm guessing velocity should be pushing 2700 FPS or a hair better in the bullets were 225 grainers. I get 2710 FPS with 60.4 gr. of RL15 from my Whelen with the 225 gr. Barnes TSX. The icing on the cake is .50 to .75" groups if I do my part. I do love my Whelen.

Well my best plan hit a snag the farmer who own the land surrounding the range is swathing and the range is closed :( at least that is what I think because the range has a big closed sign on it & the key box is covered.
Oh well as soon as I can I will be there :)

Blessings,
Dan

Dan, hunting season draws nearer, ever nearer. You need to put some rounds through that fine rifle.

Yes, you are so right Mike :( it seems every time I attempt something with this rifle it is not easy. But that is okay I will learn to appreciate it more . when it tuned and had it's first kill 8)

Blessings,
Dan

Same here. I had to change the scope mounts due to the bell hititing the shank. I put the Talleys to the side and used Leupold Med dovetails.
I finally got a chance to test some loads but my chrono has been acting up. Worked my way up and with the 225 AB, 60 and 60.5 grains tightened things up. Loaded some more for follow up testing. I have some 225 and 250 Part loaded to test yet also. I thought I would have everything done by now, but something always seems to come up. I’m going to try to borrow a chrono next week so I can get thing done.

Billbam, your experience is about par for the course. Whenever we want to shoot, there seems to be something inveighing against finishing the job.

I would bet you don't even need a chrono! Those loads will get it done for you buddy. That is gotta be in the high 2600's to lower 2700's and some serious smash right there!

Well guys I got the 35 out Friday evening:) I took out the 2 loads 225grAbs over top of 60grs. of RL15 & 60.5grs. of the same.
First thing last week end I shot off the remaining factory stuff & there was 7" difference between factory Remington 200gr. & my reloads.
Well I didn't shoot my best likely both loads were around the 1" but that was me.
I have settled on 60.0grs. of RL15 with the 225ABs. speed was between 2675 & 2690fps.
Now the 60.5grs of RL15 was hot in my rifle primers were flattened out over the primer pocket & 2 primers actually started to pop out of the pocket:(
I was only shooting in a tee shirt so after about 10 or 12 shots I was a little tender
I will be out again this week with only my Whelen as I am going to concentrate on this load until it is .5 :)

Blessings,
Dan

Sounds like you have a very workable load Dan. Nearly 2700 with that 225 AB will get it all done pretty well for you. Great shooting buddy. I know my Whelen lets me know it went off. Being it is a lighter CDL, it carries really well, but isn't a gentle Ben on the bench..

Thanks Scotty, I think losing 60lbs has taken away some of my absorbing power  as well. But I shouldn't have played with my 270 at the same time I was not concentrating like I should have. When you get to a certain age multitasking is not a good thing
I sent Mike the photo of my group and if he reads this later maybe he will post it

Blessings,
Dan

Yeah, without a doubt Dan. The Whelen does have some push to it. I don't typically shoot more than 15-20 rounds through it at a range session anyhow, so I don't jam myself up too much with the Whelen. I am looking forward to getting home and getting my range card built for the 35 Whelen though. It should be out in front for elk hunting this year, unless something changes..

Ask, and you shall receive.

Not bad, I'd say.
