Got it. I am very excited he is doing so well with it, but I didn't really have any doubt. That is a well built rifle for sure. Hopefully some Whelen's get into meat this Fall. I know I will be trying my hardest.

Took my Whelen to the range this morning to prove my latest patch of reloading

225 gr AB with 61 gr RL-15

The speed was right at 2600 fps. I hoped for slightly faster, oh well.....it shoots

I have a Leupold 2.5-8 x 36 scope on the rifle with the B&C recticle.
The Leupold B&C recticle, on the small triange pretty closely matches the Whelen

Recticle mark inches of drop.........300 yd..............400 yd
B&C recticle............................. 8.6 ....................... 25
225 AB @ 2600 fps .....................9.5 ......................... 27.5

The B&C seems to allow pretty close targeting. Aim a whisker high at 400 yds.

Eric! That looks like another great load. Seems like 61 grains of RL15 would have been faster. Either way, still pretty awesome performance in my book.

What primer are you using in your loads?

I agree. My 7600 Whelen did 2675 with 60 gr RL. Just goes to show you!

Nice shooting. Don't fret on the velocity, you have a 400 yd rifle as it is.
