Fireformed for the 260 AI and 6.5-06 AI today between rain showers. Darn rain won't quit. I'm about to call this the summer that wasn't.
260 Nosler brass, 38 RL15 w 120 BTs. 6.5-06, 52.8 RL17, 129 gr Hornady
Before and afters.

Not quite up to some of the targets you fellows post but for fireforming I'm not unhappy with either rifle. I think they'll do fine.

Dewey,

Those are a couple of cool rounds. The FF loads look good and both rifles show great promise.

Shot some tonight at 200 from the bench with a bag.
Was kind of in a hurry but wanted to see what it would do.
Worked up a series of loads to get a baseline.
Here's the first decent target.

Had potential but the third shot centered the chrono. Murdered it.
48.5 H4831, Hornady 140 SSTs, Fed 210M, 2825 fps.
Second target.

Looks great Dewey. Can't see much work to make that an awesome load.

Has anyone shot a 140 SST into jugs at 2800? Might be decent at those speeds.

Well, now that you mention it, I do have some empty jugs.,.,,
Thanks Dr, I think it's close. I like this little cartridge. Seems like a lot of punch for little recoil.

As to shooting the chronograph, if you don't murder one once in a while, you're not doing it right! I've slain a few in my day.

Yep...

If a person uses one enough, they'll eventually shoot it...I'm on my 3rd one.

I have at least two with me each time I go to the range. Shooting one once in a while keeps a person humble.

Would be interesting to see how the 140 gr SST does in the jugs, we have shot it in our 260 and 6.5x55 with excellent accuracy. Looks like you are on your way to finding a good load quickly. Too bad about the chronograph.......

I'll run the SST or maybe two into the jugs this weekend and stick it in the bullet section.
It's been a bad 18 mos for chronographs for me. This is the second one I've blasted.
I set the gun aside to cool and moved around and reset myself for the next shot. Didn't realize I had changed the path just that little bit that spelled doom for the chrono.
Can't speak to the jug test yet but I can say without qualification, the 140 SST has excellent penetration and results on chronographs if anyone plans to hunt that species. Truly a bang-flop, er....bang, pieces...

One thing that has cut down on the number of chronographs shot is to mark one of the diffuser rods on the front of the equipment with a piece of tape that is about three inches about the body. Use this as an indicator for the horizontal mark on your scope. Course, with the eye naturally travelling to the most prominent feature, you'll likely shoot more diffuser rods.

I have a couple of Chronos to my name as well !!
There is that 6.5-06 again I keep hearing it call me !!
I have all the want but not the cash !!!

Blessings,
Dan

The 6.5s are pretty neat Dan. I really hadn't fooled with them a lot until the past year. Then I went crazy on them.
The more I mess with the 6.5-06 and the Ackley version the less I shoot my 25-06. That's really saying something because for years a 25-06 has been the rifle I grab the most.
The 6.5 siren song got me. I'm glad you've been able to resist it.
