How do I remove the fireing pin from the bold of a Rem Model 700 bolt....?

I use a tool made by Kleinedorst, there are others, check with Brownells or Sinclair.

A vice and a nickle will also work. Remington also sells a tool to remove the fireing pin.

Ok I'm game, what's the procedure....

First off you need a vise. Place the nickel in the vise end up. Take the remington bolt and place one of the rear underside teeth over the backside of the nickel. pull forward "carefully" and you will expose a slot in the firing pin assembly. Put a dime in the slot and you will be able to unscrew the pin assembly (no kidding). when finished cleaning or whatever else you are going to do screw the assembly back in and put a lower tooth back on the nickel and pull forward removing the dime. Believe it or not it really works.

Well, that's ridiculous. Everybody knows you have to soak it in Jack Daniels to get any reduced locktime!

This works really well, but I was taught to use a penny. I just use the sharp strong edge to rest the groove on to pull and expose the other one.
