After a early morning rise at 5 am, and in the box blind by 5:40 am, still dark out, cloudy and cold at 37 degrees. Waited for dawn to break and several spikes, does and a few young bucks with antlers less than 8 points were seen, but passed on them. 15 minutes later, saw a 10 point cull buck walking up towards a few does and he spooked them, glassed him for a bit and it seemed a nice dandy buck that can put meat on the table. Took out the GAP 6.5 Creedmoor with 143 ELD_X and peered through the ATACR and the buck was a bit spooked for some reason, but kept facing my direction, and I felt the need to put one in him fast before he could hightail it out of there, so I held a steady bead aimed for the neck at 180 yards, and it was a bang flop. I said a small prayer thanking the Lord for my first buck of the season. The 143 ELD-X hit exactly where I aimed and shattered the neck bone and made a nice exit.
