First coyote with 100 grain E-Tip. Large female at 225 yards while she was on the run. Bullet hit just behind her left ear. Complete pass through. She ended up a little cross-eyed.
As you are aware the first actual kill was my chronograph shade support rod.
I've shot two Chronys and three rods at one time or another. You know you have a problem when you have Shooting Chrony on your speed dial.
Consequently, part of my Nosler order came in this afternoon. I have three boxes each of 130 grain 270 calibre, 100 grain 257 calibre and 168 grain 308 calibre. So, during the coming weeks I'll be working up some loads. You are inspiring me to work with the Bob.
Thanks for the pic & the report! I find your comment on the 168 interesting as well, I guess I will have to check it out in my 308 & the 100 in my 25-06AI as well.
Concerning the chrono, I have sure learned to cover the front when shooting a MZ with sabots!!
How do you like that sage country vanguard 257bee?I got one last spring and haven't harvested anything with it yet.I just got it back from weatherby last week.I put the scope back on it and remembered that I shoot all my ammo for it.Have to make some more.I took it to Twickenham back in Oct. and got skunked.I'll go back this fall and see if I can find a buck to test it on.
I really like the Sage Country Weatherby. In order to get it to shoot great I had to free float the barrel, glass bed the action and give it a trigger job. Nice and light and handles well. Topped mine with a Leupold VX II 4-12X40 with fine duplex crosshairs.
There are some real dandy bucks in the Twickenham area. I have hunted Chukar up there and seen several 30" bucks and a couple nice bulls. The best areas are hard to get into and surrounded by private property. Study your maps.
I would not hesitate to shoot a deer or elk with the 100 grain E-Tip or the 110 grain AccuBond within reasonable range.
Read somewhere a shooter took a 5gal. white plastic bucket, cut out the bottom and placed his Chrony in it. Said it worked fine. I am going to try it if ever I shoot mine like you did yours.
