Three of our four deer hunters are on the first big game hunt. The youngest member is 16. This afternoon, with maybe 10 minutes of shooting light left he connected on a dandy. 7mm-08; 150 gr. federal premium. 130 yards.
Our last Hunter passed on four spikes or fork horns today.IMG_0675.JPG

Congratulations to the young hunter. He did very well for his first deer. It is a beauty.

He's a good kid, good student etc. his dad has been bringing him along on pheasant hunts for a couple of years. Opening morning he couldn't find the deer in his scope, that night he talked himself out of taking a 200 yard shot. Sunday at lunch I spent an hour with him, basic rifle course, restoring confidence. First thing he said when he got out of the truck, "it worked".

Added number 4 this morning, an absolute twin to number 3, just a tad heavier body and horn mass. The ranch foreman was heading down with his four wheeler to pick up the clients buck when a small mule deer 4 pt. popped up. His old 280 put another in the salt. IMG_0683.JPGIMG_0686.JPGIMG_0687.JPG
The pheasant hunters arrive Wednesday afternoon. Think I'll take the rest of the day off.
