Very nice rifle Jake. Can't wait to see what it does out on the killing fields!

160 AB's should be screamers out of that long tube for sure, and like IdahoCTD said, take a look at that Hornady AMax as a good range bullet too. They shot pretty well in my little 7WSM... Plus, they are pretty inexpensive!

I want a 175AB!!!!!

Same here! Or is a 175 BT...

Another 280 AI fan!!! Gotta love it. Seems to be quite a few around here with more showing up all the time. I love mine.

Got my glass ordered went above and beyond what I was looking at SWFA had a sale on a Z6I 2.5-15X44 with an illuminated 4A and the ballistic turret for $50 more than without illumination and I think $200 more than the 4A without illumination and the BT so I'm a sucker for a good deal and went for it. Should be here Monday. Mounting it with Leupold dual dovetails. So hopefully by next Monday I get to shoot her.

Oh man! That's a great pick for the 280!

Good choice. I'm running a Kahles 3-9X42 on my Featherweight 280 and a Z61.7-10X42 on my Remington LSS Centennial 280. Eight scope works very well, but it is hard not to fall in love with the Swarovski.

That will be nice glass on your 280 Jake. Can't wait to see it all mounted up.

That thing is going to smoke them out there pretty dang far! I really like the 280 AI. What you planning on shooting out of it?

Well my friend Murphy arrived tonight with my scope. Got the scope out looks great so I grab my mounting tools and FAT wrench find the bit everything is going great until Murphy showed up. Tightening my bases fit them take one screw out drop of locktite tighten and torque. 3rd screw doesn't feel right to me so I stop do the 4th come back put and 1/8 turn pop screw breaks off in the action now I'm saying words that would turn the devil pale in fear as I start throwing what ever I can get my hands on that's not valuations . So I finished mounting it so I could look through it. All I can say about that Z6 is wow. Beats my nikon by a good 20 mins beats the Mk 4 Leuppy by 10. Crystal clear tracking vehicles on the freeway 8 miles away after the sun set an hour prior. It's pretty outstanding but now its back to the drawing board to get that darned broke screw out before I lap the rings and re-mount it before I can load and shoot it. Murphy tonight you win.

I had a new action recently with the plug screws in it that was cross threaded. Remington must be hiring some real brainiacs that can't even figure out how to screw in a screw correctly.

Been there; done that; bought the tee-shirt. Man, it's a pain when Murphy shows up.

Good luck Jake. Hope you get it squared away soon. That Swaro sounds like a serious piece of glass..

Ouch! Is this the first time you've mounted a base on this rifle? Hope you can get it out without boogering up the threads.

Definitely need to approach this issue in a calm state. Take your time, you'll get it right.

Can't wait to see dead targets!

Yeah I was in a calm state. It had a cheap Rem scope on it when I bought it and it threaded fine I think I found a chinese screw! If all goes well tonight the LH drill bit will take her straight out no problems no threads to worry about. Then Friday I will have to search for another screw when I go to town. Re-mount load shoot.

Where did you get that at? Buy me a case of them so if something ever goes wrong unbutton my long sleeve and show everyone who did it. On a better note took the LH drill bits from work got 1/3 of the way in and the screw came out. Now I just got to hunt down a matching screw and finish attaching the bases lap my rings mount load and shoot!

Beautiful Rifle! Can't wait to hear the range report. Love the scope. I am thinking about one of those for my STW

Happy to see you were able to extract that fastener without any issues.

Looks sharp! Also seems as if there's a fwe other projects in the works from your pic.
