Yesterday, several deputies from my agency went to Black Rain Ordnance in Neosho, Missouri, for a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. In the last year and a half we have bought upwards of 50 Black Rain AR's for duty and SERT as well as four of their 308 bolt guns for the snipers.

One of the things I wanted to see most was their 1000 yd range. I'd never had the chance to shoot that far before. They had two of their bolt guns, both 6.5 Creedmoor, to choose from. I chose the heavier of the two. There was no bench, just two large truck tires and a bag for a rest. One of their instructors set the scope (Arken 7-35), spotted, and called the wind for me.

The ammo was Hornady 143 ELD-X seconds with assorted cosmetic blemishes. I fired 5 shots and hit with 4, pulling the last shot (and called it). I was extremely happy and surprised, frankly not expecting to do that well for many reasons. In the photos, the one where the grass meets the dirt is 500 yds. The one with the orange number 4 plate is the 1000 yd target, magnified.

An aside about the ammo: the instructor said they had chrono'd it in the past and besides the cosmetic things, the ES had been 100 fps on some of the rounds.
