Bullets on hand: 50 b-tip/55 v-max

This is the American version with only 22" barrel and maple stock. Anyone have one?

I'm wanting to find a good load first trying the 50 b-tip. The top 4 powders I have on hand are H322, W748, IMR4198, and H335. I also have Varget and 4064 but might be a bit slow. I will be using Fed205M primers.

If you have another bullet/powder combo I should try, I'm all ears. Thanks!

I'm referring to the charts now as I start to charge cases. I should print this info out and keep with my load data to include the speeds of what works. Sure like the 3300-3400 fps potential of all three test loads. My gf shot the gun Saturday afternoon after i screwed a scope on it and dialed it in for a load that works in another rifle that I had on hand. After I returned home with the gun, she says "we should go shooting today". She shot 1/2-3/4 inch groups with it at 100, first time on a bench. I will post pictures of her with the gun and target as soon as she tells me how to save them. I'm mighty happy already, but today is the day to get some good loads going and tomorrow is the day to ring it out properly at the range. Pics and range report coming soon.

Results of initial load testing are in! 27.5 W748 with 50 Ballistic Tip, group measured .360" center to center. I started .015 off the lands, so next trip brass will be neck sized and will play with seating depth and that should be a wrap!

Didn't shoot too bad for first time out the other day...

Yote,

I'd say you're pretty much there ! My buddies go to load on his .222 Mag is 27.0 grains of 748 and 55 grainers...

Thanks PowerStroke. I did a little testing with the 55 V-max with H335 and W748, but they did not shoot as tight as the 50 b-tip.

I like the speed and accuracy of this load, and guessing I should be able to shrink it down to 1/4" groups next time out after a couple more tricks on the reloading bench. It already is grouping half the size I could get with the Encore. Cz's just plain shoot! I guess this one is kinda like a frontier rifle but with a hand lapped dropped forged barrel, SWEET trigger, and normal LOP coming in at just over 7 pounds ready to rock and roll. Still trying to get use to the blonde maple look, but I think I might be able to get use to it pretty soon at this rate.

Yes Yotesmoker, I'm sure it will take you a while to get used to the Blonde 8) in the picture. 8) :p
Not to sure I'm going to want to hear about all the tricks on the loading bench.....

After necksizing the intitial test load, sorting brass +/- .2 grains and experimenting with bullet seating, It's time to go hunting!

It must be my lucky day...called Sportsman's they just took in some 205M primers which I haven't been able to find anywhere and it's all I use in 204 and 223. Went and picked up 1000 in a brick this evening and also have 2 pounds of 748 in same lot number that I used for load development. So now it's time to load up 400 rounds of 223 and get serious about varmint/predator hunting whenever gets above -5 degrees.

I shop at Loveland Sportsman's all the time..... Lunch on me next time....

Yote....

Nice Shooting !!! I see that date of the 11th ... got it in before the weekend hit and the temp drop. It would make a good prespective if you'd go gain some data now... then 95+ degree temps this summer

Powerstroke, you're more than welcome to collect that data for me! I'll keep the heater running for you in the truck...cuz that's where I'll be. :p

POP,

Not sure if you've ever been in this place, but it's somewhat on your way by if you're coming to loveland... he's seemed to have what ever powder I've been looking for here of late to include the Viht.
Quite a few B-tips on the shelf.. not too many A-bonds and a lot of other stuffage...

Yote....

I hear ya... I've actaully been trying to figure out how to shoot out of the back of my truck.... I have a 4 X 8 sheet of carpeted ply-wood in the back.... drop the tailgate.. leave the topper lid down... bring the propane heater and a GREAT SET of MUFFS... *L*

That'll work! Done all that minus the freezing temps and propane and propane accessories in the dog towns. Sounds like a plan! I'll bring the sand bags.
