Yesterday, despite the heat, we saw some GREAT shooting. I pushed the guys pretty hard, doing things they'd never done:

Temps hit 100 degrees, maybe a little more while we were training. Frequent breaks for ice water and shade were a good idea!

Real! Had to be challenging and gratifying as they discovered that they could exercise a measure of control. Excellent work, Guy.

Nice. Its that kind of training that could save lives.

Safely simulating real life shooting tactics is a daunting task. I had an entire day of training that dealt with nothing but safely performing ground drills. Just think of where a handgun points when you're trying to draw from a holster lying on the ground, and where's your holster located? Guy, good job teaching reality.

When one fights it usually ends up being on the ground at some point. Great going Guy!

Thanks guys. The other problem we dealt with that afternoon, was unseasonably high temps of about 100 degrees in the unrelenting sun. Ugh.

I try to keep these classes as realistic as possible. Obviously, some constraints have to be made for safety's sake. Everyone seemed to come away with some good info. We did things they'd never done, despite one being a retired cop and another a competitive pistol shooter. I felt good about the skills & drills delivered. Hopefully they'll follow up with more practice on their own.

Regards, Guy

I don't go to the ground with my disabilities. I either cane them in the head or shoot them long before it gets to that point?

Brings to mind the old quote: "Never pick a fight with an old man. He's too old to fight, he'll just kill you."

Lot of truth in that OT3.

We had a bad guy, surrounded by pistol toting cops, still holding his BIG knife and refusing to drop it, until a white haired old Patrol Sergeant pulled up, got out and racked a round into the 12 gauge. The bad guy instantly dropped the knife. Later he said "I knew that white haired old ___________ was just going to kill me."

Respectfully, Guy

Absolutely likely! I have only 20% lung capacity, I can barely stand up, let alone fight someone? When those two goons tried to mug me at the Pharmacy, I had my Pit Bull, .40 S&W with (6) 150 Noslers in it at 1250 fps!
