Yes, I am going back to Arizona for bear in November (if the season does not close early due to the number of sows killed, which it hasn't for the last ten years). He is only 13 and has never been there and this will be four day hunt he will never forget whether he get a bear or not. He has never been west of Louisiana and he is in for a treat just in the change of scenery. He will be using my M48 TGR 7mm-08 with a 140gr AccuBond and I will back him up with my 358Win and a 225gr AccuBond.

Yes, I am looking forward to sharing a special place in my life of hunting with my grandson. God is good to let this all transpire and I will get to preach that Sunday and also teach the Wednesday evening bible class of that week in Morenci, Arizona.

That sounds like one heckuva hunt Mike! Good luck to you two out there. I wish you the best and hope the bears are plentiful. The West will change that young fellers outlook on life. Scotty

I know it will change his outlook, it sure changed mine. I will let him shoot a bear like I passed on because this will be his first bear hunt.

Thats great Mike. It will be a special hunt for both you and your grandson.

Good luck to both of you.

I think that's going to be a terrific trip and hunt!

"I will let Jordan shoot that bear and I will tag it with my tag."

Long as you guys don't get in trouble with this one - go for it! Should be a great trip.

Best of luck, Guy

I hope you get your butt arrested. You should not let someone else shoot an animal you have a tag for. PERIOD, Grandson or not, that is illegal. You are amazing.

I will get him a tag.

I have now ordered Jordan's bear tag on line, so he won't be using mine. I found myself a little short of cash and was taking a shortcut, and I have never let anyone use a tag of mine before. Flowers was correct in confronting me and it is now taken care of. Sorry guys for even thinking it was ok.

Mike,

Glad you got him a tag. I missed that line earlier and Guy pointed it out. Best to play it by the book.

Yes, that was dumb to even think about it much less do it. Guy pointed it out by trying to hint at us getting in trouble and Flowers was just plain blunt about it and I guess that is what I needed at the moment. Sure feel like a fool now. Lot of pressure being not only a grandpa but a substitute dad since Jordan's dad will have nothing to do with him, and I found myself looking for a short cut, because I am about tapped out of monies after the trip I just took and paying for my M48. Jordan means a lot to me so I was doing all I could to get him there. I have someone buying my 300Win mag for 700.00 tomorrow and that made it possible for me to order his tag this evening and also will give us a little extra for the trip. Sometimes life gets complicated and the load gets a little heavy, but doing what is right is the only thing that works in the long run. I sure hope it is a while before I have a moment like this again.

Not knowing Arizona regs, I wasn't sure if what you were proposing was legal or not.

Glad you're going to do it right - and yes - doing it right gets expensive. No doubt. Everytime I think about a guided high-country mulie or elk hunt I have to double the price because it just wouldn't be right to go without my son. Doubling the cost puts it right out of my budget.

Best of luck to both of you on the hunt. Heck, shoot a pair of 'em now!

Great show Mike. It is always a better memory for all those concerned when there isn't any stigma behind the hunt. Doing it the right way allows that boy to tell whoever he wants about taking a bear of a lifetime. Scotty

Yes, you guys are pretty cool and I am glad I made a fool of myself under the presser of my current condition, so you all could correct my direction. I have always been an ethical hunter, even pointing out to others the legal route to take. You are so right about doing it the way it should be and Jordan will enjoy the memories. Thanks again guys for nudging me. Pressers in life do create poor choices when you make decisions alone or think there is no other way, without the checks and balances of friends. It has caused me to take pause of my situation and see just how far family dynamics and lack of funds can influence one's decisions. Thanks again, and it won't ever happen again. Yours truly, Mike

Your still okay in my book Mike. Everybody has a "moment"! I probably have more than I should, at least, that is what my wife tells me!

Good call, Mike. We stand with you in this. Enjoy the hunt with Jordan. Trust you each get a bear.

Yeah, from somebody who has been there/done that, get him a tag. I got into some pretty good trouble over shooting a deer for my dad. He was in the farm office and had a landowner tag. He called me and a buddy up and asked if we would get him a deer. We did, word got around (it was a really nice buck) and all three of us got into some hot water of the deal. Dad for loaning a tag, my buddy for hunting with a barrowed tag (he hit the buck), and me for hunting without a tag.

Big lesson learned.

Best of luck to you on your bear hunt.
