I had my annual bladder cancer check-up yesterday at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. The doctor said, "All clear. No signs of recurrence. Good for another year." That news was worth going through the cystoscopy to get it.

I would like to that this opportunity to recognize the good work of great people and a few great organizations.

First, I have to comment on of the staff of Memorial Sloan Kettering, https://www.mskcc.org/. The doctors and staff there are top notch, professional, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, etc. Everything you can hope for in medical staff. I owe my life to them.

Second, I have to thank the Corporate Angel Network, https://www.corpangelnetwork.org/. This non-profit organization arranges FREE travel for cancer patients (and their spouses) on corporate aircraft. The folks there are fantastic. They take care of all of the details, coordinating with participating corporations that own private aircraft, to arrange flights for cancer patients to good medical treatment facilities. I believe they even arrange flights for patients on commercial aircraft.

Third, I have to acknowledge the good will and community service of Corning, Inc. who allows cancer patients (and other medical patients) to fly on their aircraft to seek medical treatment. Corning Inc. actually allocates a certain percentage of each flight's seats to community members traveling for medical care. When you travel with them you are treated just like a Corning, Inc. employee, and receive all the benefits of corporate air travel. They even provide you with seats on vans/buses that they hire to take their employees from the airport into Manhattan. All you have to do is show a photo ID. Through the coordination of the Corporate Angel Network, each pilot and van driver are expecting you by name.

Last night air travel was shut down coming out of Morristown, NJ due to bad weather, and the Corning, Inc. aircraft couldn't get there at their scheduled time. The Corning flight staff were in direct communication with the Corning employees and asked the employees to make sure that they kept the medical travelers, (my wife and I) informed. Corning Inc. even ordered in meals for their employees and us. The weather finally cleared enough that flight restrictions were lifted. Corning sent their plane down and brought everyone home. Any commercial airline would have simply cancelled the flight.

We see a lot of negative news every day, but there are great things happening every day that goes unnoticed. I witnessed a lot of that yesterday.

Dan,
Congratulations on your good health report.
Corporate Angel Network sounds like a pretty cool organization.
