Got my buddies 308 that I'm loading for shooting finally after a ton of issues....and then it was my turn with the 260. Here's a pic of the 308 group.

I've been tinkering with loads and chasing every little bit of accuracy with my 260 to the point that I haven't settled on a load for more than 6 months. I finally decided that I have about 600 Berger 140 hybrids sitting on my bench and that has been the most accurate load I've shot so I'm just going to load a couple hundred of those and just be done with it! I had a handful of other loads that needed to be shot up so I could use the brass....that stinking gun is almost boringly accurate....this is a 17 round group with 3 different loads!

The load I settled on is the 140 Berger hybrid using 42gr of IMR 4451 and cci primer in Remington cases. Velocity is 2755fps. Wind was varying 8-15 from 9 o'clock so I'm not worried about the horizontal spread on this group. It's a ragged hole load in calm conditions if I'm on my game.

That is some fine shooting it really looks like you have them both zeroed right on. Thank you for the range report and the photos.

Blessings,

Very impressive. I may have to employ your work to see if I can successfully translate it into the Canadian version.

I still can't believe that group using 3 different loads....that was a combination of 129gr ABLR, 140 Berger VLD hunting and 140 Berger hybrid using a different powder than the load I ended up with. Amazing that all 3, all at different velocities, shot to basically the same POI.

It doesn't get much better than that, your gun is definitely a keeper. Planning on trying IMR 4451 in my 260 too, yours certainly likes it.

You definitely should give it a go. It's been incredibly consistent in mine. I'm getting single digit SD and great accuracy. It's slightly less velocity than what I got with H4350 but I'll trade a few fps for the other benefits!

Wow, what a great shooting rifle. Those 140's should hold up a log way out there as well.

The rifle really like the 4451. I will try it soon.

Are the CCI primers std or hotter?

Kodiak, Just the standard CCI large rifle primers.

Scotty here's the range card with that load out to 1500 yards in my current conditions (26.48 station pressure, 27 degrees with a 5mph wind).

That is wonderful shooting, really great groups. Can we see some pictures of the rifles?

Those are some good loads and great shooting.

Here's pics of the rifle. It's a custom built on a stiller tac 30AW. Muellerworks barrel 24", 1:8.5 twist rem varmint contour. Barrel is threaded 5/8x24 and has a muzzle break on it made by one of our own here on the forum. Manners T-5A stock with mini chassis. Leupold mark IV 6.5-20x50 FFP TMR with M5 knobs. Rifle was built by Greg Young at Southern Precision Rifles.

I've been nothing but happy with the rifle. It just flat shoots about anything you run through it. Unfortunately it has also ruined me from reasonable expectations from my other rifles!

That is a beauty and a great shooter also, congratulations you will have that one for a long time.

That's impressive hardware. And just a ridiculous group... :) So Glad you didn't shoot that with a 350 buck Mauser... :) I'd be soo depressed. Cool!! :) CL

Off Topic,,, Man I love that safety there.. When I get one built im going to order my trigger with the safety there.. Do you like it? Pro's/Con's??

It's funny, I've looked a couple times but can't see the safety!

I see where it's supposed to be though.

Scotty, it's in the trigger guard on the right side of the action, you can see a round SS knurled knob.

Nice rifle, I've known Greg Young through Bugholes.com, he always seems to have great barrels in stock. Great shooting rig, I may have to try that same powder in either of my 6.5's.
