Was bored today so I started cleaning rifles, taking inventory, thinking about turkey season, etc...realized that i had a couple of guns in the safe that i hadnt really shot in awhile, you know those guns that you buy at a good price and save for a boring day...so i grabbed 2 and headed up to a gun shop about half hour away and did some trading. Didn't really have anything in mind when I got in the car, just wanted something new. They had a new BLR in stainless/mossy oak brush in .308 that caught my eye. I dont own a lever and have heard good things about them. I fact I was going to buy the same rifle in .270 wsm awhile back but missed out on the opportunity. Anyway the deal was done and I am a lever gun owner. I put a Leupy 2.5-8x36 matte finish on it, should be fun to shoot. Will post pics when I figure out how to do it...Question- does anyone know if Browning glues their front sights on? Im not partial to sights and took the screw out but that sight didnt want to budge....

Also for all you BLR shooters, do you have a preference for a whitetail bullet...figured i would start with 150 gr ballistic tips and go from there...

thanks

Most front sights are held on by two screws. One is visible and the other is under the the sight pin in the dovetail. You will need to knock or press out the sight pin to expose the screw.

I should think that the 150 BT will work just fine for WT. The BLR is a fine rifle. Mine is chambered in 358, but I have shot them in a variety of chamberings. Recently, I've done quite a bit of work with 325 WSMs. All that I've shot shoot acceptably to very good. Working up a load the rifle likes is not difficult and certain to reward the hand loader. Congratultions on acquiring a fine rifle.

Congratulations on your BLR 308 Win. The 150 gr BT or AB both will put down WT deer fast. Great choice on the scope.

Let us know how she shoots.

Congrats! Usually those BLR's are good rifles. You sure topped it with a fine scope too. The .308 is a fine cartridge and I like the idea of 150 gr Ballistic Tip bullets for deer too...

We've had an old steel-frame Belgian made BLR kicking around the family for 25 years or so, and it's done a great job for all of us who have used it.

Looking forward to a range report!
