I finally got my goat from 2009 back from the taxidermist, it looks quite good.

Both are great mounts! You should be very happy with that goat? How long is he Gerry? They sure are pretty animals!

Thanks David, he is 10 3/8" long and was 12 years old. Yes I am quite happy with him, there is nothing quite as nice as the coat from a November billy. I actually wish I would have had a rug made instead, maybe if I get another nice one, one day that will happen.

Thanks Lou, it did take 4 years for some reason for the taxi to get it done but it turned out great. He might not be the best business man but he is a talented taxidermist.

Those are awesome trophies. The quality of the taxidermy looks like it might of been worth the wait.

Sometimes the wait can be worth it, Gerry. A skilled craftsman is always preferable to a sharp businessman, if the choice must be made. Good looking goat, to be sure.

OUTSTANDING!

I think you're right - he's a slow businessman, but a meticulous taxidermist. If you can stand the wait, he obviously comes through with a quality product.

Very cool. A pair of GREAT trophies there. Congrats.

Guy

Great looking mounts, I keep applying for a goat tag, to no avail. The quality of yours has renewed my enthusiasm.

Those are beautiful!!! Took almost two years to get my pronghorn back. Those look worth the wait. CL

Great looking mounts, the goat has great fur , beautiful it would never get old looking at those.

Very nice!
I never thought about a rug for a billy but that sounds like an excellent idea. If I'm ever blessed with a billy I'll definitely have to consider it.

Those are both outstanding!

That billy is gorgeous. What a trophy!

Here's a random question. When you see field pics, 99 % of them the hide is stained pretty good with blood. I would think that the terrain Billy's are taken in there isn't a quick way to wash it out. How do the taxidermists get that out without compromising the hide/hair? Just wondering.

Thanks everyone, this is one animal that many of you don't commonly see so thought you would enjoy it. The sheep was done by another fellow who was very experienced but not too long after he did it in 2003 retired from taxidermy work which was too bad since he did a great job on it (and had it done in less than 6 months) The only other mount in the house is the grizzly rug right now. When my wife gets her first big game animal I'm hopeful there will be another mount shortly after that. The only other thing I would love to get mounted would be a nice Sitka blacktail. tanned skins from a wolf, wolverine or lynx would be neat to have around too.

Vince, I have seen a goat rug with the head in just like you would commonly do a bear and it looks very good when done right.

Sometimes you can spend time washing it out in the field but it will make the heavy hide even heavier. I do believe the taxidermist washes it out and know for sure that they will bleach the fur as well

Furs are frequently washed in a large capacity washing machine. The cycles are sufficiently gentle to allow cleaning without damaging the pelt.
