Got my new Mdl 70

I finally received my new Mdl 70 Extreme weather 7mm WSM, it is one sweet rifle, now i just need to figure out what scope to put on it. I was originally thinking of going with a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 Plex with BT, but now that i know Zeiss is coming out with a new line of Conquest i might just wait a while to see what they are like, any thoughts on which one you think would be the best. Or maybe even something else i should go with instead. Thanks: Mick

Congratulations on a fine rifle; the cartridge is assuredly excellent. I'd go with the Swarovski; there is no comparison between the two scopes. I own both, and the Conquest is good glass, but the Swarovski is excellent glass.

I just ordered another Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 Z-plex from Midway USA, they have it for $599.00 again, and i know that it is not as good glass wise as the Swarovski, but in my opinion you will not find a better scope at that price. Now the only question i have is what height Talley one piece mounts i should go with in order fot the bolt to be able to clear the eye piece of the Zeiss. Thanks: Mick

That Zeiss should be awesome on that rifle.

I would bet Mediums would work, lows might as well. A call to Talley might be useful too.

Congratulations on a fine setup! Calling Talley may be the best bet on ring height. The eyepiece daimeter is supposed to be 41mm but that may not include any little bumps for changing magnification, etc. The objective outside diameter is also listed at 50 mm and that could be a factor depending on the barrel profile. If Talley doesn't know for sure you could order two sets of rings. I like scopes as low as possible without touching anything. I'm sure you'll get it worked out, when you do, post pics please!

Good deal. I really think you have the best rifle you can get for mountain hunting. Decently weighted rifle, in an awesome shooting cartridge with enough juice for anything here. Your going to love the 7mm WSM when you start loading for it. Mine has been excellent. Very fast and very easy to make accurate loads with.

You picked up a nice rifle in a good cartridge. Mine shot less than MOA right out of the box with 160gr Accubonds.
