Got Wood!!!

A very handsome stick. It does appear there is some residue built up in the end of the barrel from the one picture giving a look at the muzzle. Still, a lovely piece of work.

You guys neef to look closer that's at least a couple different rifles. I saw a .404 Jeffe and a .600 OK.

Hmmmm. Interesting observation that was assuredly overlooked in my haste to work through morning posts.

Wow, very nice rifles right there! Darn, those are some seriously beautiful rifles.

G'Day Fella's,

There is actually 3 different rifles in those images?
The .404, the 600OK and a .300H&H!
And they are all bloody NICE!!!

Doh!
Homer

Course, I'm somewhat dense. Are all three being sold? Or, is one being sold and multiple rifles being used in an attempt to illustrate? Regardless, some nice workmanship, though way out of my price range and separated by a border.

I think it is an advertisement for a custom build. Odd to see on GunBroker, but that is what the description says.

Well, that's what I get for not reading the entire ad. Basically, I look at pictures. Reading is too difficult, or at least too time-consuming. :)

That's alright, I imagine it is hard to read things at your age without the monitor projecting braile! HA!

Well, I hunt by braille, and not surprisingly, I require a monitor that displays braille! I spent a lot of time in the bush, so people have to print slowly for me to read. And, yeah, advancing age (with the onset of galloping senility) doesn't help. (Now, if I can just remember how to submit this dratted post. :? )

That is a great bunch of rifles. But 5 large is a lot of money

True, dat. Fotis, are you home? How are matters with your parents? You've been in my prayers.

All I know is "good wood ain't cheap!" I don't know if 5K is too much as long as they include the action as well. I have a buddy who is building a custom .404 Jeffery on a 1917 action. I think he paid around $600 for the blank he is using, and the gunsmith told him it would be about $2500 to finish it. I guess they are building a pattern stock so they can do all the tweaks to make it fit him perfectly and then the pattern stock will go to Heritage Walnut along with his blank to be duplicated. I know he has about 1K in the action and custom bottom metal, so I'm sure he'll be close to 5K by the time he is finished with his rifle. So I'd say that price is probably the average for an African DGR rifle if you supply the action to your gunsmith of choice. If the advertiser is supplying the action then I'd say you are getting a pretty good deal on that DGR.

My .270 Winchester Model 70 cost $2000. in 1973 and the rifle was only $500 of it for a Super Grade action. The blank of Bastogne was $600. The stock making was $750 and $150 to repair the side mount screw holes, reengrave lettering and provide recoil pad but that was 40 years ago.
