On opening day I drilled a buck with my Swede Mauser with an offhand shot at about 130 yds and he dropped right there. I used a 140 grain Partition pushed by a healthy dose of IMR 4831. The load chronos at 2584. The terminal effect on the deer was phenomenal. This was the first animal I have shot with a Nosler bullet. My previous kills were with Speer Grand Slams (also very effective), however those deer still ran about 30-60 yds whereas this season's buck dropped in place. I will go out this weekend and try some more. This kill was also the first with a milsurp gun so that added an element to the hunt.

I had similar experiences this year with 125 gr partitions in my 260 with two big does at 180 and 90 yards repectively.

Hey Heavy Metal,

Congrats on your buck!!

Hey Sarge,

I see you made it over here and that nasty, smelly boar of yours came with you!!

I was with Sarge on this hunt in South Texas, and that by far the worst smelling critter I have been around..........

Now Sarge........how many of those Swede's do you have now......

Good Hunting,

Bob

Hey Sarg, nice pig, he ought to eat pretty good.

Are you still spit shining them boots now that your out of the service?

By the way, I have a son in the guard that is hooked up with the 1st Cav. over in Baghdad right now. He says they're all good people.

Once again nice pig.

That is the kind of performance I am used to from PT's!
