Well I went to the range today and shot the 45-70 with the 300gr nosler ballistic silvertip (ct) @ 200yds to see how my scope works at that range...I got the same results using the 300gr speer uni-core bullet as well...I pulled the trigger on the top left side, and then I settled down..I was just testing out my burris ballistic plex scope, and it seems pretty much just on the money..These lever guns are just sooo fun to shoot, and pretty darn accurate if you ask me!..BTW, this was from a new scope base, and my 2x7 scope..Lou :)

Thanks Jim  ...My .270wsm is all ready as well, shot it out to 400yds so far, and well within a paper plate size target using 150gr nosler partitons and norma oryx bullets..I just love to shoot my rifles, and if I plug a moose, I well give more than 1/2 of it away to family and good friends that don't have the chance to hunt etc...It's been like that for me for the last 32yrs...There is a few friends here that well be a part of my hunt as well! ..Lou

Looks great for a thumper shot at 50 yards more than its theoretical max range.

Outstanding! Shooting a well-loaded .45/70 that well at 200 yards is impressive!

Great shooting with the 45-70! Think you could easily stomp a moose or elk at 200 with that load. Don't think I hesitate in taking a 300 yard shot with my 300gr PT load on elk.

That is really great shooting!!! The 70 will take care of most anything that runs in our woods.

That is some great shooting Lou! Really nice.. That has to inspire a ton of confidence in that rig..

These Lever guns shouldn't be as accurate as they are, but man, they give alot of bolt rifles a run for their money!

Thanks fellas  ..Yes Scotty it's true, these rifles are just so darn accurate pal, i've been shooting it alot,.I'm really impressed with the 45-70 so much, that it might be my #1 choice for moose this fall with the proper load, either way, I'll be packing both the 45-70, and .270wsm for the trip, would love to use the 45-70 though, have you noticed when you shoot your 45-70 at the range, how it makes people just stare    ...Lou

Without a doubt Lou! Haven't seen many folks shoot Brian's or my 45-70 and not figure out a way to get their own!

Man, with targets like that I really "NEED" a 45-70. I think one has officailly made it to the short list.

Jake,

I thought you were already shooping for an 1895 Guide gun. What are you waiting for buddy???
It WILL become your favorite rifle to shoot. If it doesn't. I'll buy it from you!

Without a doubt! I have said it before talking with you Jim, it is fun to shoot the bolt guns and make small groups, but when those little lever rifles do the same thing, well, what a smile!
