Gun Question remington 700 vs 700 youth

Can I put a standard Remington 700 7mm-08 22 inch barreled action in a 700 youth stock, or is the barrel channel different?

I hope it does. I found a youth stock a couple of years ago so I bought in anticipation of using it with my .243 for my grandson when he's ready to hunt. I have not checked to see if it fits. If someone doesn't answer your question tonight, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

If not, just enlarge the barrel channel to free float the barrel. It should not be difficult to do.

I put a standard short-action 700 BDL into the Rem youth stock. 22" sporter barrel in 6mm Rem. Barrel channel was just fine - the same.

Only difficulty was that the youth stock was the ADL configuration. We managed.

When he got taller, the rifle went back into the standard 700 BDL stock.
