What's your thoughts on H1000 with the 140 bt/ab in the 270 Weatherby?

Works great in my stw, and is between rl-22 and rl-25 on the burn charts. 7828 didn't look to promising this morning. I'll try rl-22 tomorrow morning.

Jmad, you're playing with cartridges I have never messed with, but I'd sure give H1000 a try based on its temperature tolerant properties and it burn rate. I think the .270 Weatherby has the case capacity to make any powder in that burn range work.

Yeah, same here Jake, I would try it, but I think you will get onto something with RL22. Seems like it should work really well in that case, as would RL25. Seems like it should be a screamer with any of them..

I'm sure you've seen my other posts on the subject, but suffice it to say I've not been impressed with H1000 in the 270Wby. It's always been a bit slow. I like IMR7828ssc, but I'd also look at RL22 (as Scotty already mentioned).

Keep us posted on your results if you try H1000, though.

The only rifle that I have tried it in is my Savage 338 lapua. I was using retumbo with the 300 gr AccuBond and getting 1 inch + groups at 100 yds no matter what seating depth I tried. I switched to H1000 and the first 4 shots were under 1/2". It's a powder that I plan on trying in a few other rifles.

my thoughts H-1000 seems to be a bit slow burning for a standard mag case with light to med weight bullets, works ok with the heavies. I always shot IMR7828 and H4831 in my 270 BEE
RR

H1000 is a dam good powder, burned A LOT of it and I really like it. Usually very accurate/consistent powder.

I think its worth a try, as well as rl22 and rl25...although I'd rather go with the hodgon extreme line anyday over the alliant RL series.

Jake,

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I think its worth a quick test drive.

H1000 powder does no hit its burning rate stride until you get to 160 grain bullets for the .270 Weatherby. Finally with 160 grain Partitions, H1000 is the powder to beat for velocity. I have never used H1000 and can not comment on its burning rate efficiancy and accuracy because I have never needed that large an overbore burning rate for any caliber. There are lots of powders that are better suited to 140 grain bullets for the .270 Bee., like IMR 7828 SSC or H-4831.

And in the same line of thinking, as I get ready to load on Friday, H-1000 with 160gr Accubonds in my 7mm Weatherby should be just fine... I hope.
