So here is a question so I don't blow my face of. I want to fire form some new Winchester primed and crimped brass for my 1:7 twist 16" ar. I have 5lbs left of H380 and 400 m855 bullets that were pulled bullets that suck out of this rifle. Not looking for accuracy just looking to use the same amount of powder under the same bullet to get the most consistent steps done to this brass. Then I can tuck my 77 grain smk in the formed brass. Which shoot really good out of the gun.
So here is the recipe: 23 grains H380,
2.260 coal, primer i would guess is just a standard srp. Didnt say magnum anything when I got them. Cases have had the necks sized just to clean up the roundness of them then trimed to 1.750 chamford and deburred. I always put a small tapper crimp on all my ar ammo.
My research shows it's a slower powder but just a step or 2 away from cfe 223 according to my hornady manual. Not sure if the sierra manual has one looked a few times but hate the 3 ring binder bs. I'm thinking some where in the neighborhood of 2300 ish fps. Just a guess but velocity is not my concern. Being a slower burn powder and fast barrel twist will it shoot flames back down the gas tube. Just a thought.
I'm sure this combo is not optimal but I'm just looking for fireforming nothing else. So if you wizards of reloading can give me a reason to not do this or do this it'll be fine that would be great
Just looked at the forums burn rate chart it's four slower than cfe223

Seems reasonable. I would suggest cross referencing your H380 load with a few loading resources to ensure your charge weight is safe.
Maybe someone with QL can run the numbers for you.

I could find data for 75 and 77 grain projectiles 23 grains was about mid way on both of them
