I was shooting Thursday with my 308 and 30-06. I was trying H414 in each gun. Sierra indicates that H414 was most accurate in 308 with 125 gr bullet, and I managed a .70" group. This is the smallest group so far in a new Remington 783 I picked up cheap for my kids.
The 165 gr loads in the 06 were OK, but not nearly as accurate as IMR 4350. Not anywhere close to what that Tikka is capable of.
I picked up the H414 as an alternative mid range powder when some of the others were hard to come by. But it hasn't wowed me in my guns and it seems like it fouled the bore more than other powders.
What are your thoughts/experience on H414? It's funny to get such different results. I wouldn't have thought to even use it in 308 until the Sierra book listed it as most accurate. We'll see if it is, as I'll probably work up a Varget and IMR 4895 load too. Might try IMR 4064 too. Those little 125s are fun to shoot.
