I've worn hearing aids for quite a while and one of them died on me so I've been looking around for replacements since I can't afford to replace the ones that died and I have found there were better options then ones sold by an E.N.T. ( 6K to 8K ).
One of my pistol shooting friends mention he had gotten a set of hearing aids from Costco's, so I decided to get a membership and check them out.
I've had hearing test done many times but not quite like the one I got at Costco's, it was more thorough then any that were done in the past, the equipment for ear testing has changed and evolved as has hearing aids.
After the test the Audiologist had me try a pair of Enhanced Pro 30 that the computer had picked out for my hearing loss and I was surprised at how much better they were then my own even before one died.
The hearing aid is made by Jabra and is supposed to be highly rated but ratings are a dime a dozen and self prof is the only rating I trust.
After adjusting the aids to the computer program form my hearing test and adjusted to a level I was comfortable with I went out in the warehouse and tried them out in a noisy environment and had the back ground noise eliminator turn on which greatly muffles the unwanted noise but allows you to hear/hold a conversation as long as you are looking at the person you're talking to, so they are directional and only pick up voices in the direction you are looking in that mode, in the all-around mode you hear everything and somethings you don't want to. it's hard to not ignore/overhear others conversations.
They are Blue tooth capable and can be pared to your phone and you can answer your phone and talk to the person as long as you're with in 30 feet of your phone, just tap your right ear or right hearing aid to answer your phone.
They have more features than I can list here and I would be writing a book.
If you need hearing aids and don't want to spend thousands of dollars I recommend checking these out since I think for under 2k they are a good deal.

Fortunately, my health insurance covers hearing aids, including some rather expensive models. However, I have noticed that hearing aids are getting much less expensive and are in financial reach of most anyone. Some are in the hundreds of dollars. I recently read that Medicare may soon cover hearing aids, so they will be available to most older people for free.

This is good information to hear. I have been wearing hearing aids for several years also. I will say that though they are expensive I have been satisfied with the service and help received from my audiologist. I hope Medicare does start covering hearing aids if not some of it. Depending on the individuals hearing loss this might be a better way to go if not cheaper. Good to have options.

Thanks for the replies, I posted this to provide more information to those of us who suffer from hearing loss.
