One thing I'm learning is that those nice, sharp, clear, and crisp photos of firearms I've seen on Gunbroker are a display of talent on the photographer's part. These will have to do, though...I'm not looking for yet another challenge---my plate is quite full!

You better send it back as it's clearly defective.
They put the bolt on the wrong side.
In all seriousness though that is gorgeous. Keep us posted on how she shoots.

Very handsome. Enough to make a king jealous. You done good!

Wowser! Nice stick. I really like that new follower design that keeps the bolt from contacting it when the mags empty.

Becareful you don't get any drool on it. There are a few people who have to dry their key board on their computers already.
That sure looks sweet.

Very nice indeed. Congratulations on a true classic.

That is a very good looking Model 70, I would think with it being in the 280 DrMike would be very impressed as that is one of his favourite if not the prize of his arsenal (y).
Again very nice and thank you for the photos.

Blessings,
Dan

Wow a gorgeous Model 70 in a fabulous .280 Remington. The BEST of both worlds!! The 280 is one of my favorites.

Thanks again!

I thought I'd never have this. I've always harbored some disappointment at the fact that the only Model 70s chambered in .280 were Featherweights...call me odd, but I just don't care for the Featherweight Classics. I prefer the true Classic style stock, and the fore end tip is a bonus in both appearance and function.

I started shopping for mounts and rings yesterday. Since this is a very special rifle, I wanted to do it up nice, so I looked at S&K and Conetrol both. Disappointment again---S&K seems to lack a mount for the M70, and as attractive as Conetrol rings are, I think the bases look kind of clunky. Then I considered Leupold Dual Dovetails. To mount my choice of scope (VX-3 3.5-10x40) I would have had to use the extended front base, and that's how my 70 Classic in .30-06 is set up. Nice and functional, but just not as attractive as I want. I ended up going with steel Weaver bases (S46 and S47) and Burris Zee rings. That's about as clean a setup as I have ever seen not costing an appendage or two.

I used to wonder which rifle would be the one I'd hang on to if I could only keep one and I really couldn't decide. I think the choice is pretty clear now!

I prefer the true Classic style stock, and the fore end tip is a bonus in both appearance and function. I'm with you here. I like the classic style stock better myself. Nothing wrong with the featherweight design but I just like this better! What I like also is the fact that the classics have 24" barrels instead of the 22" on the featherweight. That's another reason I wanted a classic.

To mount my choice of scope (VX-3 3.5-10x40) You sure are nailing it with your choices. That is a perfect power range for that rifle and they look superb mounted on the rifle. Very nice selection! I would have had to use the extended front base, and that's how my 70 Classic in .30-06 is set up. Nice and functional, but just not as attractive as I want. A little too late, but I like the looks of the Talley mounts and they seem very strong and functional. That is the mounts I have on my .280 Ackley Improved I build on a classic Model 70.

I used to wonder which rifle would be the one I'd hang on to if I could only keep one and I really couldn't decide. I think the choice is pretty clear now!

If she shoots as good as she looks, you're in like Flynn !
That's a gorgeous rifle in a superb caliber !

Congrats !

I have a set of Talley Lightweights, Jake, but I've got a thing about steel. I'd like to sell them.
