I'm looking forward to bringing this service to customers in the future. First I'm going to test it out on my guns. Any pointers would be welcome.

Also how much does it take to coat a barreled action? Will 4oz do it?
Steve

Oh yeah. Invested in a good air brush and get it clean. Like run acetone or over it wipe it down really good and when you think you have it clean do it again. Then a few coat hangers and your done. It's really easy. Just get it clean and a good airbrush.

G'Day Fella's,

Screamin Eagle,

The single most important bit of advice I can offer you is, FOLLOW ALL OF THE MANUFACTURES DIRECTIONS, TO A TEE!!!
As NV mentioned, a quality air brush makes life a little easier!
Also, I have a few strips of sheet Aluminum (1/2" wide x 4" long x 1/16" thick) that I have drilled and tapped to accept various action, scope rings and bases etc screws.
What I do is, screw the screws into one of these strips far enough so they wont fall out and be lost in the blasting cabinet. You can then abrasive blast them, degrease them (with Acetone), and Cerakote them while they are still screwed into these strips on metal!

I also have a couple of different diameter continuous threaded rod (Brooker Rod) that are about 27" long.
I have machined up some brass plugs (with tapered ends), that I screw onto each end of this rod which I use to protect the muzzle crown and chamber area of the barrel, whilst abrasive blasting and Cerakoting.

I'll have a bit more of a think of any other useful advice and post it here later!

Hope that helps

Works for me.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the tips so far. I have a couple HVPL spray guns, so I should be ok in that department

G'Day Fella's,

Screamin Eagle, your correct in using a HVLP (Hi Volume-Low Pressure) spray gun.
Most of the work though, goes into into getting it ready for this stage!

You will need to use a more aggressive abrasive than Glass Beads in your blasting cabinet!
I personal use Garnet but you could also use Aluminum Oxide, as both of these abrasives are more aggressive than Glass Beads!
This is what www.nicindustries.com recommend, as the product required to give the Cerakote a proper purchase to the base material!

Hope that helps
