On September 4 I'll guide my last group of fishermen. On the fifth I fly to anchorage then to Portland. At about 1800 I drive east to Pendleton. 2130 or so I kiss the GF, go to the garage find the box labeled elk hunt. 0400 on the sixth coffee and donuts, kiss the GF, drive to the ranch and pick up my hunters. I hope the elk are where they're supposed to be.....

1. you have a more understanding gf than my wife, hold on tight

2. sounds like an adventure good luck with the elk guiding, keep us informed how it goes for you and the clients. elk are still one of my dream adventures so i love reading about other people's adventures to keep my appetite at bay

I guess when the seasons are over your glad for a break but then if you are like me I wish they would never end. When I was younger I would hunt and fish everyday that I could. Sometimes I wish I hadn't treated my body so badly when I was younger but the truth is I would probably do it the say way all over again if I got a second chance because it sure was fun.

Good Luck with your travels and hunt.. Please keep us posted with pics if possible. Is this archery or rifle hunting? Regards, Rol

She is a gem, I'm getting away with it because she has to work; hunting the ranch so I'll be home at night and the boss is going to let her shoot her elk later on the ranch.
This is a cow hunt, rifles. One guy is bringing his bow also.

That David! Always nitpicking. Yeah, bet he wanted pictures of the elk. Consequently, we'll all be looking for pictures of the elk.

Had a big day; got home from Alaska; stopped on the way home and bought a new shorthair, her name is sugarIMG_0597.JPG.
Drove up to the upper ranch for an evening elk hunt, by 1800 hours we were doneIMG_0605.JPGIMG_0599.JPG
These two ladies took their cows about 30 minutes apart. 1 was taken with an o6 and 180 grain Barnes bullets. 130 yards.
Cow 2 was taken at 260 yards, 25/06 and 120 grain Partition.

Congratulations on acquiring the new member of the family. Sugar is a fine looking companion. The ladies did well on the elk. Congratulations to the guide!

GPS coordinates will suffice! Good luck on your hunt.
Bill,
At the moment I have not located my GPS. If you look east from Milton Freewater up the Walla Walla river, where the wheat fields start running into rough ground and timber, you're in the A/O.
