Ok, so who has utilized H4895 to acquire a reduced target loads?

take the maximum H4895 charge listed
for any given cartridge and multiply it by 60%. The shooter can create a 1500 to 2100 f/s load, depending on the bullet
weight shown. This works ONLY where H4895 is listed. DO NOT use H4895 in a cartridge where it has not been shown

I am about to try this with a 325wsm (150gr speer)
.
I'm curious if any of you have tried it? and what kind of accuracy to expect?
.
thanks!

I'm using it in a 7mm-08 with a 120 ballistic tip . it works well , I'm more than satisfied with the accuracy .

thanks scotty,
gosh guys.... I'm getting excited about this!

10-14 gr of trail boss in a 308 makes for Avery accurate plinking load 1200-1400 fps with a 150 gr bullet

Well... here it is
40 gr h4895
Cci250
Speer 150

That should be a fun load.

I used H4895 for reduced .308 loads when my oldest son was stepping up from a .22 to his .308, a long time ago. The loads worked well.

Post up your targets Chet if you can. Like to know what kinda tweaking you'll have to do in order to make them shoot.

I really enjoyed the 243 with reduced loads. Makes for a fun rifle to shoot from any position and probably not too much more expensive than shooting a 22LR at todays prices either!

"I use IMR-sr4759. 4759 is fantastic."

I agree. Too bad it has been discontinued, AGAIN! :x Grab some if you can.

My local gunshop and I conspired to get 20lbs of sr4759. I should be good for awhile.

Why in the world it's discontinued is beyond me. I use it in 45/70, 358 Win, 30/06, 223, and just about everything else I load for if I want a reduced load. A 110 Vmax from my 30/06 put 7 rounds under 3/4" @ 150yds and the recoil was just a touch more than a .223.

I have reloading data from .17 Rem - 458 Win Mag for it.

If your looking for 4759, here is some 8lb'ers of it.

That's a pretty good price. My 45/70 likes it, the one out of the group is a clean bore fouler and then I fired 5 more. This load averages 1511fps and I consistently scared the whizz out of a 12"x12" gong @ 620yds with this setup once I figured out where to hold:

That's a great looking load! Man, that sorta load would clock just about anything too.. That's exactly what I run the 405's at out of my 45-70 with RL7.

I tweaked my .308 for my Daughter using 10gr of trailboss and
125 Nosler BT's For submoa @50yds....Its fun

I really like RL7 and I think 40grs went 1520fps from my 1895G with good accuracy. When I got my 1st pound of sr4759 and got better accuracy with 12grs less powder I ended my RL7 affair.

Ha! Yup, same load of RL7.

Man, I don't need another powder on the bench. Very tempting.

reduced loads don't have to be close range loads to be accurate . get your desired velocity , or recoil amount , and work seating depth . I picked both of these loads by the amount of recoil generated from quickload . I then worked seating depth .

H4895 with a 120 B-tip , 7mm-08 @ 100 yards

IMR4198 with a 125 B-tip , 308 @ 100 yards . I shot this target .

I made a scope adjustment between these groups . 100 yards the young shooter shot this target .

these were shot at 100 yds by me . trying to find the seating depth . the only change in these targets is seating depth .

Very nice Jim! I remembered the work you did for that young lady, and can't wait for the other young hunters to try the 243 out this Fall with the reduced loads. I even did some bullet tests with the 80 BT and 90AB using the reduced loads. Should work out perfect!
