Hodgdon H4895 reduced recoil loads -- opinions

I also remember your work with that rifle, Jim. Your data should be very convincing for anyone looking for a milder load for younger shooters.

"Why in the world it's discontinued is beyond me."

Probably because it's not cool in the tacticool rifles which apparently are the hot items these days.

On another note I fell into a couple hundred 150 gr. Winchester Power Points and used them for a light load in a Ruger RSI for my wife to shoot. Barely did two inches in her rifle but in a Remington 660 will hold .75 to 1.0" all day long. Load is 25.0 gr. H4895 bullet seated to the cannelure. Winchester primer and Remington brass. Rifle is seated in an H&S Precision Fiberthane ultralight stock that I bought from them when they still had their plant in Prescott AZ. THat 660 has killed an awful lot of deer.

Well, I fired the test rounds.
Recoil was definitely milder.... on par with a 7x57 I suppose... neat!
I shot them off-hand at a box @ 50 yards.... 6 inchish group.... neat!
I'll load some more and shoot them off the bags when I find time.

NICE! That's pretty cool. It'd be cool to know the speeds your getting too Chet, if you can. Good data to have around.
