How about a chat?

I know this may have been raised many times but how about a chat room or the like? I think it would go over very well and be used quite a bit. Maybe there is a good techno reason it can't be done and I'm no computer geek so that very well may be the case.

But I think it would be a winner on here...even though some people reply to threads on here in record timing like a chat room... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

In any event the forum itself is awesome. A real time chat room would add another very positive element to an already awesome medium.

There is a Chatroom I use nightly..... for shooters and handloaders.....

Altho...I will admit.... the core group of chatters have known each other for over a decade and at times ya think ya entered a zoo.....

But everyone is friendly and hopefully knowledgeable. Two of our chatters are S&W employees.... well.. one has retired, but the other is still at it.

Anyone one wanting the URL...I'll PM them..... reason.... Spammers & Trolls so far they have not found us yet.

I too have brought this up in another way. I do chat on a few other's, but one here with this group would be great as well imo. Once in a great while I see a few from here elsewhere. But I think different crowds just bring a different atmosphere, even though it is the same in general when considering the shooting world. This is a great group of folks here, and a is chat way to great way to get know one another for those that wish to participate. I have made some very good friends and what I consider life long, via the chats. Something otherwise would have not likely brought us together.

The chats and some of the forums, that I have been/are seem to have a certain core group whom really seem?, to exclude outsiders, dominate the discussion and talk amongst themselves. I have gone back for dozens of pages trying to pick up the thread, then it was usually posted on another subject. If we do such a thing, I would want to make sure that "everyone" feels engaged with the group. Just my .02

I don't sense that type of thing here. It seems everyone here for the most part are just ..ho hum....and very helpful. In other words people here don't act like this is a sacred club or something of the like.

I think a chat would be outstanding here.

One of the things that has came from the chat room I haunt is that a group of us get together once a year in Texas. Started back in 2001 here in Oklahoma.... then moved it too Texas in 2004.

Great BBQ.... great company.... and 12 different pistol ranges, a 100 yard zero range and a 1000 yard rifle range to use for several days.

No egos allowed...... hang onto your sense of humor....and turn off the cell phones. Life is good.

Wouldn't work well with me in there. I'm too ignorant of most "stuff" discussed and would slow the conversations down with "What?" "Why?"......."HUH????"

Personal "quirks" have me unable to just accept what others know as "facts"......without some kind of answer to how that was determined and by whom and when and where can I read about that? :?

Gets me in a chitload of trouble and I end up honking off the majority. MY personal builds/rounds/requirements are certainly not "normal" and I tend to think outside the box too often.....it seems?

PROBABLY why I live alone too? :lol:

So........I'll support that option for those of you wanting to do so. Would seem to be a great option for those discussing similar factors.

I too like reference points..... and I have an extensive URL listings to find things... and it keeps growing daily.

I often post references to a chat so an individual can read for themselves.

And the 'fact' is..... what works for me does not always work for someone else.... tis just the 'facts' of life....

But ya never know until ya offer a solution that maybe the other side of the conversation had not considered yet.

The last chatroom is still going after about 10 years, very good folks, moderator operated/ opens/closes room. If you were on the members list 10 years ago, you can still join-in. If not, NO !!!!!!!! Mostly benchrest shooters and gunsmiths, though.

Certainly there has to be enough internet security today that would be able to keep spammers out or what have you. Maybe not and that could be a problem but what keeps spammers now from getting our info on this site? I can imagine a chat would be set up using our usernames and passwords. This site seems to be secure so just adding a chat room once logged in I would think would think be secure. Again I'm no techo savvy person. I can run a lap top and a desk computer. I can run a cnc machine and program one. Personal computer code I have no idea how it works. :?

Let's revisit this. I still think this would be an awesome idea. Here is a perfect example. I have some time to kill and in the mood to either chat or watch some chatting regarding shooting/loading etc etc.

Again, maybe it's not feasible but I'm betting it would be. I noticed none of the mod's chimed in on this. Maybe they know something. :?:
