How about a high BC 8mm bullet?

If you don’t mind a single feed bullet.

Unfortunately I need repeaters. Great bullets though! I use them in my 375 BAS. 350 gr Lazers at 3250 fps.

Thank you Dr Mike what were the ranges what was the impact velocity you know all that good stuff what did you shoot it out of

Shot from a 325 WSM; MV ~2500 fps. Game distance from 170 to 220 yards. I eventually switched to 200 grain PT in that rifle in order to get higher velocities of ~2750 fps. This load worked as well as the previous load. I sold the rifle and switched to an 8X68 S, for which I'm still developing loads. The 220 grain Sierra will be one of the first bullets I consider.

Thank you. I should be able to launch it at about 3100 feet per second

Isn't that a fair bit faster than normal 8mm Rem Mag / 220 gr velocity?

I have zip experience with the 8mm Rem Mag, just liked the idea of the cartridge long ago, but never bought one. Knew that Sierra made a GameKing for it. Have had good results from GameKings from other cartridges in the past.

Regards, Guy

I know I'm probably overthinking this but I usually do with everything. Just worried about jacket Core separation even though I most of the time that it does occur ....both are found together after the work is done.

I had a friend of mine shoot an antelope 150 yards away. He used a 99 Savage 308 Winchester 150 Sierra Game King. The Sierra struck behind the shoulder and we found the whole jacket between the fur and the ribs. The jacket opened up enough for the core to get through. The lead core just disintegrated inside the lungs. My buddy had a small gunshop here in Cheyenne called double G General. He put the jacket in the ziplock bag and displayed it on the wall it was funny and a good conversation piece.

I no longer go crazy like I used to and I was younger. I'm not talking about prairie dog coyotes and steel but actual big game. Ernie I'm thinking 500 yards the most I think it should be fine about tht distance, but you know anal is anal LOL

8mm Remington Mag?
220 SGK G1 BC .521

Nosler 200 grain AB G1 BC .450

At a 500 yard Max you can run the 200 grain AB quite a bit faster, and your bullet should hold up fine.
Things are pretty easy out to 5, when you want minute of kill zone unless the conditions are horrid

The 220 gr SGK will handle the wind better and should perform better when you are further out and things are slowing down.

Cup and core or bonded?

160 grain TTSX BC of .400 - Low recoil, and it should be be quite Speedy

You Mono's are a choice with lightning fast possibilities and sucky BC's

You just don't as many choices when you go with the less popular calibers
