I was a little bored today and thought I would figure out how much it cost me to load "premium" ammunition (for the 1st loading then after that brass is free). Got to the part where I needed to know how many grains of powder are in a pound. I was thinking that I heard that there was something like 5760 grains in a pound. Is this correct? If so I can load 98-99 cases for my 280 out of 1 pound of powder.

I believe there are 7000 grains of powder in a pound. You should be able to get well over 100 rounds for your 280 out of a pound of powder.

I like this ALOT! This means I can shoot more . . . for less. Yep, I like this ALOT!

I got bored and figured up the cost to shoot 140gr accubonds in my 7mmRM, ended up costing 1/3rd what it would cost to buy the winchester supreme factory ammo (160gr, $29 a box). I was pleasantly suprised.
