I went from a Ford 4WD truck driving, cowboy boot wearing man with a aggregate centerfire rifle caliber mean of .356 diameter in my safe, down to a Volkwagon Jetta driver, wearing Birkenstock sandels and Greenpeace tee shirts in one gun trade, bringing my centerfire rifle aggregate down from .356 to .287 in one day!

All this from one trade of trading a Marlin .45-70 for a Mauser .257 Roberts. I may never be the same again! Does anyone have a .577 NE for sale to bring the stars back in alignment again? I am not sure that I can live with the new me?

Now, that is just spooky. IdahoCTD has given you good advice; you need to seriously consider what he says.

If your agg changes that much with one trade, you don't have enough rifles!

Hmmm... I'll have to figure out how much my new .325 changed my aggregate. I may need a few .45-70s to get mine to move much. (I'm not much of a betting man, but my guess my agg is gonna be close to . 308, what with all my .300 maggies.)

Seriously, a Jetta? Time to mail your man card to one of the Marines here for safe keeping!

Just did a quick calc, and I'm sitting squarely at .320" for an aggregate. I'm guessing since that's between 8mm and 338cal, I'm okay? Where are the lines here? And that includes rimfire, centerfire, and muzzleloader - handgun and rifle. Is that the right way to calculate this? I didn't include shotgun bores, but I can if need be...

Three twelves and a twenty, and two of the twelves are back-bored, that'll bring my average up.

I'm thinking only centerfire rifles need apply...handguns, muzzleloaders and shotguns all have larger bores than X chromosomes would allow.... for instance a Eurotrash aristocrat could get out of a Renault wagon with a couple of 12 ga bird guns and have an average of .750...

My man card is safe and sound with a rifle average of .330 while driving an old Jeep.

Hmmmm. .309 average. I'm going to have to sell off my 22s and the .257 Bob together with the 260 Rem to boost my status. My man card is hanging on by a thread.

Man, when did this become a math forum! Sure way to bring anyones score up is to get yourself a Guide Rifle or heck a 444 or 405 Win would help too... Scotty

Crap. Without the muzzy and handguns, I'm sitting squarely at .292! Does that mean I don't get to keep my man card? I guess I'm going to be shopping for something in the very large range. Just doing the math, I barely break .308 with a 45cal rifle...I'm in trouble. I guess I'll have to trade down to a nice, baby blue volvo.

How about bonus points for calibers less than .308 that exceed 3400fps or bonus points for guns that sling bullets heavier than 300grn! I drive a jetta and need a little help here   . I also drive a 4x4 F350, cut and split my own firewood and drink my whiskey straight... so I guess my man card can stay with me a little longer. Seriously, I've purchased several rifles lately but they're not helping the average! The latest are a TCR with '06 and 22-250 barrels, a mauser in 257 Roberts AI, .270 Weatherby #1B Ruger and a Ruger 77RSI in 7x57 none of which are helping the average. I guess it's time to get the Marlin guide gun and I did see a good deal on a .458Win mag....anybody seen a .577 Tyranosaur for sale :twisted. The .22 Hornet is definately on hold! I guess I don't need much of an excuse to buy a gun.

I think I'm having a little caliber envy here!  Mine is pretty darn small compared to you folks and my diameter is way down there!  It might take years to make it right, or at least a 45/70 and a 338-06 to start things off anyway.

I just thought that I would recompute my man card units on the basis of calibers. A single rifle drop from .356 to .287 is serious erosion! Especially considering that I have (2) .338's. I just thought that they might tell me that I can't drive a 4WD truck any more, just a Jetta and have to wear blue Keds!

With multiple .358 calibre rifles and a .366, I though sure my average would be higher. Too many .284 and lower calibres lurk in my safe. Wait a minute! I bought the 260 for my grandchildren. Ditto on one of the 22s and the 257. Let's see. If I recalculate, it comes out to .338, and I get to keep one of my 22s. I guess I can keep driving my F150.

You guys get extra points towards the man card for driving Fords and Jeeps.

Man, I would have figured with nine .30 calibers I would have scored higher, but I don't even average a .270 Winchester! (avg: .274) Maybe the .17, .204, five .22s and two 6mms did me in.

Whoa there. What's that all about?

Damn those varmint guns, mini 14's, and 7 7mm's just killed my average. Mine's only .303 for centerfire rifles only. Good thing I only have AR lowers and not complete guns or I'd have to include them and drop my average more (I can thank good 'ol Obama for those and my wife went for it  ). If we could include muzzleloaders I'm up to .363.
