How to Dance with the devil on a pale moon night.

Brazen critter!
Well maybe not, I have a Porcupine that lives under the cabin next to my house. The Porcupine showed up here over a month ago and never left. Maybe one will get rid of the other? Zuri knows not to get near the Porcupine, maybe this guy did the other night and why he was so vocal?

Ok, my mistake. So I walked all around the house with the snowshoes on trying to figure out where this guy was and wasn't. Long story short the track coming off the deep snow on to the front porch "Was Not the Wolf" but from Zuri!

The snow must have melted the steep edge making it appear like the wolf's track, but none of his tracks came into this area...... he did get within 25 yards behind the house, looked at the house and moved back around towards the No Name Creek. He actually crossed right behind where I had my hide yesterday waiting for him, jumping down into the creek bed and back up onto the bank, then went up the hill behind my house where his tracks are all over everywhere.

I did see the Elk, Deer, and a pair of Moose had been hanging out last night half way down my driveway. I assume they all got pushed this way, and to their advantage they know the area better then he does. But from the looks of things I haven't heard any Ravens indicating a kill or found one anywhere close to here.

The snowshoes make way too much nose walking over the crusty snow, but make traveling a lot easier. I took some pictures of his tracks and measured them.

His track measures approximately 5 1/2" long, where as my English Lab who weighs almost 80 pounds and has big paws, measure only 3 1/2" long. He also has a 20"-22" gate when walking.

The pictures aren't very clear, there was light snow that had covered the tracks, and the light was really bad.

Cole thank you for the story, I really enjoyed it. Those dogs are a mite smart at times !

Blessings,
