Awesome shooting. I would say that rifle is ready to work! Scotty

Thanks Scotty, appreciate your help!

Three weeks until I head north for 10 days.
Whiteails are not gonna be safe.

I sure wish I hadn't pulled that last round with the AccuBond.
(nobody to blame but me  )

And Dr Mike,
Thank you as well!

Believe it or not, the action is in a Boyd's Prarie Hunter stock and has not been glass bedded.
I think I'm gonna leave it alone.....

Howard

Yes sir! My pleasure. I wouldn't mess with that rifle at all. I can't see anything slipping past you with those loads. Scotty

Howard,

Looks like a winner. Whitetails everywhere are in trouble!

What I would like to know is how you got 77 grains of any powder into that case? Good looking groups, BTW.

It's a military ball powder.
WC 872.
It's used to load 50 BMG and 20MM Vulcan cannon ammo.
Meters beautifully but burns very dirty.
Load it with the same data as H870 or AA8700

I've shot 80 grains of it in the 264 with no pressure signs but the groups opened up and the velocities were not any better.

I'm loading 88 grains of it in my 7STW with a 160......

To be continued.
Next candidate is 7Rem Mag Savage that really loves 140 ABs....

Howard

I might just give it a whirl. H870 was about as good as it gets in my old M70 7RM with 140's and 160's. Scotty

Great groups Howard, it I were you I would change nothing, "ever". Great shooting those groups dont happen by themselves.

You have probably stated before, but what is the tube length & what brand?

It's a stainless, fluted, 28 inch #5 from McGowen in Kalispell, Montana.
They call it a heavy sporter. It's very close to the same contour as my son's Rem VSSF.

It was a new unchambered blank they listed on their website as excess inventory.
I paid $90.00 for the barrel
