Hunting truly is fun and it is about the preparation and then the hunt itself. If I did not like hunting and that is what it is HUNTING!!! I would not go at all this year.

Been skunked on my black bear hunt in Arizona and the Missouri hunt got canceled while our first rifle season here in Mississippi only allowed me to collect a bobcat but no deer. Went muzzle load hunting twice this past week and saw nothing but might go once next week.

Now all that said, I do like to hunt and what I like is the hunt. Might get skunked this year but that has only happened twice in all all the years of hunting so I can't complain and I really am not. I am just extolling the virtues of hunting and how much fun it is to go.

I got the 210gr Nosler partitions that do not have the factory crimp groove and their coefficient might be just a tad higher than those with the groove and actually a little stronger because the groove does possibly make it a little weaker at that point on the bullet as apposed to the Partition without it.

You would not believe how consistent they weighted. Ten out of the fourteen I weighed were the same and the other four were not much off the ten that weighed the same.

Any way I have them loaded with my load using Rem brass, Rem 9 1/2M primers, 73.5grs of H4350 and the 210gr Partition with the OAL set a 3.300" When rifle season opens up a gain in about ten days, I will be on the gas line sitting in my little pop up blind waiting for that unsuspecting buck. I sure hope you all are having fun this year hunting, what a privilege it is to be able to hunt in our great outdoors, happy hunting. :):):):)

If you haven't been skunked, you haven't hunted. It is the hunt, and not the kill that is thrilling. I'm with you, Mike. I love to hunt.

Amen, brother! Preach on!

I'm missing the season across the board this year, but I'm preparing for a good season next year. I'm hoping to do antelope in Wyoming, and then a bunch of deer hunting here in Alabama (and maybe in Mississippi, too!) but I have to figure out the expenses on the out of state stuff. I'm enjoying my vicarious adventures via everyones' posts, so keep them coming!

The best part of hunting is having the big family get together right before the hunt. Then the hunt itself and getting to try alot of different loads for the rifles to see if you can shrink the groups and see if all the trail and errors of reloading pay off in the end. Along with the practice.

I ain't gonna lie...I like to hunt but love to get.

Well YoteSmoker", you ain't alone!!!!!!! As much as I love the hunt I will admit it sure is COOL TO GET! :):)

Yes, I am out of my deer sausage that Fortenberry smokes which is some of the best I have eaten through the years of hunting and living different places. Need a deer, because it sure would be boring not having that smoked deer sausage to eat during this spring and for the grill this summer. :)

There is nothing wrong with the eating, to be certain. I'll be enjoying some fine moose sirloin this afternoon; and there is plenty of mule deer roasts and steaks in my freezer to provide variety this winter. However, I'll have to wait until spring for some bear ribs. Nevertheless, I stand by the contention that the thrill is in the hunt. The fine dining that follows is a bonus.

You got it man! If it wasn't for the fun of preparing and the sights and adventure of hunting there would probably not be many hunters in California. I love it all in and out of state and I sure agree with DrMike about the eating part. MMMMMMMMMMMMM

Well guys, I did not get my whitetail this year which maybe the first time in many years. Did not matter as my son who is 29 spent the weekend with us and got his first deer since he was either 13 or 14.
He advised that he had a great time and plans to be a regular with us
He made a real nice shot on a small buck and I will be taking it in this morning to get process. I think that we will get some smoked sausage made as well.
I did not get my buck this year but had just as much enjoyment as any other year. Being blessed to have the opportunity to be in these outdoors with family and good friends is way more than I deserve.
I hope that everyone on the forum has a great remaining hunt.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

It is great that your son joined you and that he took a deer. That is indeed a special time to share.

I spent the final day of deer season looking for a whitetail. I didn't find one that I was willing to take, but I couldn't have been happier. It was a beautiful day and I saw lots of animals (moose and deer) and found lots of sign of wolves to energize my resolve to spend some time this winter looking for these wily creatures.

I love hunting and "getting". Sometimes it just isn't in the cards to "get", but views like this help make up for it!

Absolutely beautiful, breath taking!!! WOW!!! What a moment that would have been to be there to see the moment in person. Don't tell me God can't paint, HE is the ultimate artist!! Man, God has a great canvas, HIS creation. :)
