Lots of different ones out there I got a H2 Gunrunner by Eberlestock but looking for something bigger as its only 1400 cu in. What size do you guys recommend? Looking at 3000 cu in or bigger. It will be used for everything. Packing out day pack everything.

I use, and recommend, the Kuiu Icon 5200.

Jake I have a Blacks Creek Canadian that I love. I carry it a lot and have used it to take elk quarter's out with and it worked great. Quiet and plenty of room for stuff I think I can't do without.

I also have an Eberlestock Just One that I really like and used it every day on my goat hunt. Both have a way to carry a rifle or bow on them, but the Eberlestock protects the rifle a bit better. Both work though. My pack weighed way too much sometimes when I went back in to the Wilderness to hunt, but it rode fine and never gave me any problems. The Just One expands bigger than the Blacks Creek so if you want to spike out for a few days the Eberlestock would probably be the better choice.

I've had good luck with both. Even though I had everything out of the pack that I didn't need, each day with the rifle included on my goat hunt, my pack weighed 36 pounds on a scale!! I had things in there that would allow me to spend a night or two out and not be too uncomfortable though and would keep me dry, so that felt important to me just in case I got caught towards dark someplace and didn't feel it would be a good idea to come back in the dark.

Lots of good packs out there.

Jake, I like the looks of the Kuiu pack that Vince mentioned. I have an external Alaskan Lightweight frame pack from Cabelas that works great and rides very nicely as well. I carry an Eberlestock X2 daily for most hunting.

Vince,

I've seen the 5200 in use and that's one impressive ruck. I'm looking at Kuiu's new Ultra trying to decide between the 3000 and 6000. 3 lbs or 3lbs and 9 oz my current pack weighs 3 lbs 8 oz.

David,

I love the Eberlestock pack I got but just need more room. 1400 ci don't cut it. There scabbards are awesome. I've been looking at the M5 Team Elk pack but the weight thing has me stuck on the fence.

Just need something bigger after the wrecking ball experience. Not something I'm going to do again.

I really like the Mystery Ranch packs... my favorite is the "Big Horn", perfect to day hunt and pack out quarters on it.

For Backpack hunting the NICE 6500 is very capable. I've hauled a (literal) ton of meat in mine.

Like hodgeman I really like my Mystery Ranch 6500 with the Nice frame, very comfortable and you can carry heavy loads in it. Not sure if they make my exact pack anymore but mine has been excellent since I got it about 5 years ago.

I've heard nothing but good things about Mystery Ranch packs and they are made here in Montana over at Bozeman! Built by hunters for hunters!

I like buying American if possible. Mystery Ranch sounds good.

Nimrod here in Washington builds tough, really tough packs for fire-crews and hunters:

I've been using one of their packs for several years. Very flexible system. Very well made. Very comfortable.

I have had great experiences with Badlands packs. I just got a Full Curl pack by Sportsman's outdoor products I am really excited to try out.

Blacks Creek is also made in USA. Eberlestock used to be made in USA and they started here. Still a good pack, but yes I too like to buy local.

Besides the quality, and well thought out design, I like Kuiu because you buy direct from the company.
No middle man mark up. That gets you more pack for the money. Some of the others are that way too.

Yeah, I have to admit that it was nice driving about 9 miles up the road to Nimrod and picking up my pack from the shop where they're made... (y)

I have a Badlands 2200 back pack with the internal frame.

I useing Eberlstock just one for backpacking and packing meat out and it's one tough pack. My only complant is when empty its like 6lbs. For general deer hunting I use a cheap Field & Stream from Dicks. Just can not pack any out with it.

I ended up with the Kuiu Ultra 6000 weighs 3 lbs 9 oz. I'll put a review up after a while but I know I can pack a kitchen sink. Very spacious light and seems to fit well, well thought out simple pack.
