Well Tuesday night honey do's list wasn't very kind to me, I waited 9 years to draw an elk tag and I have to turn it in real quickly so I can get my points back to use for next year. Anyway I fell about 15 feet from a ladder replacing a window screen on a second story window. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Just arrived via ambulance at local ER waiting on X-rays.

X-rays, I'm no Dr but even I can read these!

One more ambulance ride, and a quick surgery my leg is now in traction. Swelling has to go down before they can try to put my leg back together. Looks like I'll be out of work at least 6 months.

Jeepers that really looks like it hurt. Hopefully your physical therapist is beautiful. Good luck.

OUCH!

Turn in that tag, heal up strong for next year!!!

Maybe there's a late season hunt you could do - from a blind, or the cab of a pickup?

That is quite the fracture! So sorry to hear of this; so pleased that you have access to good health care. Get well soon.

Wow Chad. That's not good. Sorry buddy!
Have to talk to your mrs regarding honey-do's right before hunting season.
Get well man!

Ouch!

Heal well and heal quickly, prayers for your recovery.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Better than your neck!
Wishing you a speedy and full recovery.

Sorry you got hurt Buddy and I pray you heal and can hunt next year. the good thing is your still alive. There's a lot of people who have died from a fall like that.

Oh man, I hope you get well soon :( ..I'm having a tough time too dealing with neuropathy in both my legs :( ..I think my hunting seasons are limited, but I'm trying to cope it with for as long as I can.
Get well soon mate,
Lou

What a bummer! Your luck may be worse than mine. I had to eat a Northern New Mexico Elk tag back in 2001. Uncle Sam needed my services the dates of the hunt. The outfitter did allow me to swap to a whitetail hunt in Oklahoma at a later date. But the $500. for the tag was toast.
Those breaks look bad to me. I've never had to deal with broken bones. They say my bones are dense. However my joints are another story.
Left knee replacement 1 1/2 years ago. Now my left hip is all bone on bone and I barely get around with a cane. Only solution is a new hip.
Worse still, the x rays showed bad stuff in my lower back so a MRI was endured only to find I have advanced Spinal Stenosis. The back surgery must come before the hip.
After the first of the year, I told them. You see, I don't intend to miss a deer season as it might be my last.
I use to be a real go getter when it came to hunting trophy bucks. But this year it will be much scaled back. I can't climb a ladder but I can climb stairs. Which I have on our powerline box stand.
I can also sit in ground blinds. I got a couple set up in areas with heavy buck traffic. I can get to the stands with a staff but I can't drag a deer. So I'm only hunting areas accessible by my Polaris.
At least I can get out there. Looks like it will be awhile for you.
Do what the Dr.s and Therapists say and you will be getting around in no time.

Sorry to hear of your accident Chad, I pray that the swelling goes down in that ankle real quick & the corrective surgery can be done.
Once you have had the rehab you will be as good as new!!!

Blessings,
Dan

To bad man!!!!! :( :( Hopefully you will heal fast, take care and listen to the doctor.

Damn! Sorry to hear that brother! Do what the Dr. Says and let it heal right so you're ready for next year.

I really appreciate all the prayers and well wishes, and hope they keep coming. Talked with the orthopaedic surgeon today and a full recovery isn't probably in the cards. They think the best option is to fuse the ankle to prevent arthritis and long term chronic pain. So running a mile or a marathon for fun is probably not in m future, but I should have decent mobility without needing a cane or crutches which is the good news. I'll probably need to loose that weight I always thought I should but never got around to as well. It definitely wasn't bad news and I'm grateful and blessed for that, but it never is the news we want to hear.

Chad I slipped and fell back wards on mine a couple of years ago two pins a plate and seven screws latter and I'm walking but not as good as before.
