Hunting Season Workout

I am going next week to the Specialist regarding my elbows, I finally have someone agreeing with me that Tendonitis is not my only problem with my elbows, I have attempted to lift only 3 times since this past October and all 3 times it felt great until about 2 hours after, then there was pain to the point that I could not sleep that night.
I have done all the exercises, stretches along with ice/heat but the aching will not quit, I am now taking treatments using a Tens Machine but it is too soon to notice any difference.

Blessings,
Dan

At 68, the key for me has been a variety of different exercises each week. I work on three exercise principles:
1) flexibility
2) strength
3) cardiovascular
Flexibility- I do yoga three times a week to increase flexibility, core strength, and balance.
Strength- I use a local gym twice a week and a program called "body pump" that incorporates all of the muscle groups with high reps of light to medium weights. This has been great for me.
Cardiovascular-During the winter snow shoeing, and a stair master at our local gym. Now, I hike a local 4 mile (round trip) trail that has a steady 8% grade twice a week. We ride our bikes on a fairly vigorous 13 mile loop twice a week. Once the snow is gone it is up to the mountains for 3-10 mile hikes at 10,000 feet to some remote lakes for fly fishing. Oh almost forgot that I walk my retrievers overnight for 45 minutes. I am no exercise guru but this works for me.

Oh my goodness. Riding buddy had revenge on me today. 65 miles and 3,500+ feet of climbing. Ugh.

I'm a whooped puppy.

Good workout though, lots of hills. Last week 50 miles was the farthest I'd ridden this year. Now the highest mileage is 65... Yikes! :) I had been worried about doing 63 miles on my 63rd birthday in a few weeks. Guess I'm not worried about that particular accomplishment anymore.

And... we repeated the ride yesterday, with minor variations. Still 65 miles and now over 3600' of vertical.

The ol' legs are stiff, but not particularly sore. Taking it easy today. Mowing the lawn & stuff (wasn't I just shoveling snow a couple of weeks ago?) but no riding today. Put new tires on the bike this morning. :)
