Sue got me an electric hoist for my birthday and that started to ball rolling. I upgraded the hoist to a 1 ton capacity. Bought a 5" x 12' I Beam and a 4x6x 12' timber. Got the timber up in the trusses to work with one I already had up there. Got some 3/8" threaded rod and suspended the I beam.
My neighbor buddy was a huge help. We used the Polaris winches to get the I beam in place and bolt it in.
Hung the hoist and trolley on the I beam and moved the electrical outlet. The 110v cord is the only thing I need to figure out. A coiled cord would be ideal, if I can find one.
Next year I'm going to spray foam insulate and do metal side walls and ceiling. That will be the last big project. Yeah!

Great looking shop, buddy! A hoist sure does simplify life, especially when there's nobody around for a second set of hands. I was poking around my garage and I have a compact 3000 lb ATV wench laying on a shelf beside a spare receiver hitch insert..I came up with the idea of fabing up a mounting plate for the wench and weld it to the receiver insert. Just pack it away under the back seat in the truck and when I need to hoist up a deer/bear, move a small tree out of the road or give my truck a little help to pull out of a jam. just slide the winch in my receiver hitch, and hook to the battery with jumper cables.

Necessity, the mother of invention.

I think I'd have more trust in u-bolts for mounting. Glad too see you're not just attaching it to 1 truss/beam. Enjoy! Looking good!
