I'm playing with 85 grain Sierra HPBT Game Kings in my 6X47 Rem. There is no data for this bullet in my Sierra manual so I used 85 grain Speer data from Hogdon's web page. Tried BL-C(2) this weekend and it gave me stellar groups with the 55 grain Nosler BT (5 loads tried 3 sub 1"), and 60 grain Sierra HPBT (4 loads tried all sub .5"), but the 85 grain Gamekings wouldn't do under 1.5" with anything and all had primer cratering to some extent.
I'm looking for powders other than Hogdon's that will at least get me into the 2700 fps range with this bullet. Anything over 2700 fps makes it have the necessary ft-lbs to be legal for hunting in CO. I'm just looking for recommended powders and max charges as I can back it down from there.
My cases avg 30.2 grains H20, COAL is 2.40" and it has a 20" barrel 1:12 twist. I've been using CCI 400 primers as well.
