So I stuck a case in one of my three (oops, forgot the neck sizer, four) .223 sizing dies. Just ripped the rim right off. Pretty lucky that it took me 25 years to do it. What stuck case remover do you guys use? Forster? RCBS? RCBS dash 2? Hornady?

They all work about as well, I would just get what your local shop has in stock.
I used a RCBS on my buddies 30-06 die.

Kurt,

They all work pretty well. It is humbling. I do that about once a month.

Ouch, Doc! Well, I guess you should be getting pretty good with the tool by now, huh?

...RCBS, sticking .25-06 cases was almost getting to be a habit for some reason. Go easy, use oil (cutting), most auto parts stores will have an extra tap (cheap ones are really, really brittle)...

I cheat. Since it is almost always in work up for a customer, the gun smiths bail me out. The lathe makes short work of the stuck case. Woe betide me when I quit doing things for the fellows.

It is a bummer when it happens. Had 30-06 Ackley IMpr that did not have the head space set correctly and it weakened the case about 1/2" up the case and when I went to resize it, it broke off and stuck in the die. Needless to say me and the smith had a long talk and he made everything right. The rifle shot well afterwards but I never did conjure up to that rifle after that experience.

I use a RCBS but not before I damage my pin twice. I actually switched to imperial sizing wax I became so paranoid. Always loading for the 7mm mag. I did it twice in one night :(
My cousin asked me if I was trying to win a stupid contest :p

Blessings,
Dan

That's good stuff Dan! We have to be able to laugh at ourselves, or we would just cry............ a lot!

It is going to happen sooner or later. I have the hornady and the RCBS.

The RCBS stuck case remover always helps remove the stupid feeling and makes all good again.

I did one with my 30-06 case. Lubing every other case finally caught up to me. Oops.

Corey

BK, good excuse to get a Forster COAX!!! They really put a tight grip on the rim and really minimize the chances of the rims getting torn straight off. I haven't stuck a case yet (knocking on wood) but I will have to think about a good stuck case remover when it does happen! Scotty

My cousin was sick of coming over to help me after that one night so he bought the RCBS for me and he said I was dumb
It has never happened since, when I called RCBS they sent me the replacement parts free of charge and actually sent 2 extra.
Got 2 free ball caps as well.

Blessings,
Dan

I don't want to jinx myself here, but I haven't done this...................yet! I probably just made sure it's going to happen though now!

David,

Be certain you post tomorrow after getting your case stuck this evening. Man, you've really jinxed yourself by saying it had never happened.

I got lucky a few months ago....case was stuck with the rim damaged but not separated. Managed to get the pin & expander ball out but it was damaged in the process.
Chris Fox at Redding kindly supplied a new one FOC - double quick time & brilliant service.
I put a steel rod into the case mouth & gave it a smack with a very big hammer.
No more stuck case!
The die is undamaged & all working perfectly again. I'm just a little more careful with the lube now. Cheers guys.
