I found a classic

Like everyone else said that is a real beauty, congrats on a great find.

NICE, Thats the trouble with cabelas....once in a while.... I found a 30-40 Krag carbine for a buddy in rogers a few years back ....once in a while CL CL

Beautiful rifle!!! My very first CF rifle was a 222mag Vixen in the heavy barrel .....that wasnt really.

I recall drooling at photos of the deluxe.

Excellent find!! Congrats.
God Bless
Steve

Too bad, so sad! I had a Cabela's CC for many years and have shopped there since the early 1980's in the Sidney, NE store every summer, stocking up for hunting. I loved Cabela's until they repudiated me politically, for telling the truth on their forum. They scotched me and I sent them their CC back. Sayonara Cabela's! After 30 years of being a good customer, I will never buy from you again.

old trader, i met scott through the cabelas forum "only benefit i recieved" and used to go on it once in awhile. it seemed to me if you werent on the same line of thought as some of their forum heroes you didnt know what you were talking about. glad to see you sharing valid information and actual experience over here. i never really bought much from them anyway, a few guys at work got a dose of the doorbuster sale when they waited in line for hours only to find the guy at the counter telling them the items they waited for were sold on account there were only two of them and the guy in front of them bought both.

joel, i guess it would be ok to leave your vixen here for awhile  . looking forward to christening it with a coyote buddy. the 22x47 lapua barrel is finished so we can mess with that at distance when you get out here.

Just my opinion. What got me banned was calling a Socialist Lawyer who patterned Saul Alinsky as a "Saul Alinsky Adherent". Free speech isn't very free if that statement gets you gone!

Cabela's now is run by the same MBA that ruined Remington (Tommy X). I guess that he can ruin Cabela's reputation and sales trends (he is doing a good job, doing just that), run them into the ground and walk away with a $5 million gold parachute but I am not going to kiss his ring in the meantime! All he cares about is building the credit business to make 12% interest off the CC's. He took $250 M out of inventory and funded the CC expansion thing (I can read and Balance Sheet and Income Statement). That is why they have no inventory for sales!

The Cabela brothers are special. They built a terrific business based on service and good merchandise which I bought a lot of, for more than 20 years. I wrote to Tom Cabela when I got banned but Tommy X had already run him and his brother out of town on a rail from the business that they built. I respect the Cabela brothers a great deal!

I spent the night getting some loads built for it and will see if a set of rings can be found soon. I'm going to pull the scope on the 257 AI and throw it on the rifle once the rings are located. Really looking forward to shooting that 22X47 and see what it is like before I build one. I see Berger has some 80, 80.5??, and 82 grain bullets that might be interesting to try in it.
We are going to have a rack of rifles to christen when I get to your place  .

Old trader, good post sounds a little bit like this country as of late doesn't it?

Joel sounds good we are going to have some fun for sure looking forward to it.

Election is coming and we all need to keep our freedoms ahead of any politician promises. Keeping our guns is the most important right to me!

In the meantime, keep us posted on how well this old, classic Sako rifle is grouping.

I am having a really hard time finding a set of rings for this rifle. The only rings I can find locally are made by Leupold and they are for the dovetails that are the same front and back, not for the little L461 action which has a narrower rear dovetail. Talley has a ring/base set, but I don't care for the way their base attaches on the dovetail. I may end up getting the Optilok system that Sako makes for their rifles before all is said and done.

If anyone has a set of Sako rings for this action and doesn't need them....I do!!

Joel get me a picture of the dovetails please

Wait are these it?

Those are the original rings that I am looking for. I have put a request in on the Sako Collectors website to see if anyone has them for sale, but no luck so far.
Thanks for looking Fotis 8)
